[SOLVED] 2026 Tahoe Z71 Duramax Oil Change with Skid Plate

I have a new 2026 Tahoe Z71 with a Duramax that will soon need an oil change. Do I have to take off both of the skid plates to access the oil filter and drain plug?

I don't believe so. The drain plug and filter are both at the back of the engine. Just in front of the sway bar. Really easy oil change with a vertical filter and drain plug that doesn't shoot the oil onto the frame.

FYI, the oil really comes out fast from the pan if you fully remove the drain plug. As you probably know, diesel oil stains whatever it lands on more persistently than gasoline engine oil, if that matters. Don't ask me how I know.

Fumoto valve fixes this issue. Waste oil goes directly into container for recycle. Not one drop spilled. Best I have found for the filter is to drill a hole in its bottom and let it go into a plastic trash can lined bucket...

What size Fumoto??? It's not the one listed for the '25. Seems like a really small plug.
