I called Onstar 2x and they said I needed to take it back in to the dealership. Does that sound right?
If everything was fine before the dealership did an update, and now things aren't working properly after the update, then of course you should take it back to the dealership.

Yes, I just called this morning to schedule a follow up appointment. Obviously just a hassle to not have a car for a day and have to coordinate transportation, etc. Hopefully they can figure out what went wrong.

I would tell others to hold off on doing the recall until this stuff gets resolved.

Just picked up my ‘22 Yukon XL from the dealer. Zero issues with the previously reported non-functioning features post-update.

Be careful with this one!
After my reprogram, I lost OnStar and WiFi modules. Took it back in. Dealer confirmed that recall work fried the modules.
Mine was the 4th one this advisor had seen. Best part...OnStar module is on backorder w/ no eta. Thanks GM!
Yesterday mine went in to the dealer to have the module replaced. Get a call that the new module was bad & they ordered another. What, they dont QC these things before they leave the factory....wonder if there is a bigger problem.

I just got an email from GMC regarding a software update, does anyone know what this update is for?
Is it worth time for a service appointment. I have a 2022 GMC Yukon SLT

xxxxxx, your GMC Yukon is due for a software update that must be performed at a dealership. This update will provide software improvements and optimize your vehicle for future over-the-air updates. Once completed, your vehicle will have up-to-date technology, including the latest infotainment features, performance enhancements and more.

Contact your preferred GMC dealership tod‍ay to schedule this complimentary software update. They will provide you with the timing and details for your appointment.
Our highest priority is ensuring that you get the best driving experience possible.
I wanted to inform you that I completed the latest update on my 2022 Yukon Denali. However, the update process encountered some challenges:

  • Update Process: The vehicle did not initially accept the update, so it remained overnight to ensure it was properly installed.
Since completing the update, I have been experiencing intermittent issues with the vehicle's display systems:

  • Gridlines Missing: The gridlines that typically assist with camera views are no longer visible.
  • Hourglass Icon: An hourglass symbol appears consistently across all camera views, which disrupts normal functionality.
Initially, I referred to a message from July 2023 that addressed mirror misalignment, believing it might be related. However, after thorough inspection, it's clear that mirror alignment is not the source of these issues.

Next Steps:

  • I seek assistance to resolve these display problems and would appreciate any guidance or support the team can provide.
  • Please let me know how to proceed if additional diagnostic steps are required.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response to ensure the vehicle operates smoothly.

Best regards,

Did the DEALERSHIP do the update, or did you?

I had to take my car back to the dealership from last week. It was there all day today. They just called me to say that the Telematics Control Module went bad seemingly during the update last week.

They have ordered the replacement part, but there is no ETA. He said that it could be in within 4 days or 4 months. So I am picking up my car tonight and the issue is not fixed and I will have to make another service appointment whenever the part comes in.

I would hold off on updating this if you can.

Oh yea, I called Onstar 3 different times from my phone....if the light is not on in your car next to the onstar button then they are sending you back to the dealership.

The update/recall messed everything up in my car. I should call onstar and ask for a refund on the service and wifi since I pay for both plans

I'd imagine that OnStar will recommend that the dealership pay [you for your OnStar service that you're missing out on], since OnStar doesn't appear to be at fault here.

I still don't understand why people pay for OnStar. It doesn't do much more then a cell phone and often doesn't work. Don't have it on my 2023 Burbank but think I will wait to have the update done.

For what it’s worth, I asked my dealer if they had any reported issues with any vehicles that got this update at their facility. They said no. Service advisor said that they had flashed hundreds of vehicles without any issues. So that’s why I decided to risk it for the biscuit. Came out just fine on the other end. Everything works.

My trusted longtime service advisor at a very large GMC dealership told me they have done well over a thousand vehicles for this latest update and have only had two bricked vehicles which were back on the road and fixed the next day. He advises all his customers to leave the car overnight "just in case" something happens.

I think this thread is a classic example of "no news is good news". I'm pretty sure 99.9% of these get done without a hitch. But nobody is going to go out of their to way make a thread or post about a software flash was done correctly. That's already the expectation. It's those who end up having problems that'll share their story.

Well, you're one of the lucky ones. Mine was done about a month ago. My dealer told me in addition to mine they bricked about a dozen yukons, canyons, and sierras. In addition the modules were backordered with no eta. When they took mine back the new module was doa...strike 2. Finally got it fixed Saturday. Hopefully by now they've modified the procedure to avoid this.

Speaking of software, my lock mechanism is working out of character. It still locks the vehicle automatically 10 seconds after I've left, but anything having to do with me opening the vehicle with my key fob on my person is a no starter. No popping either part of the liftgate or pushing the door button to open the driver or passenger doors. I have to click the unlock button on the key fob now. I wonder if a low battery is causing that malfunction, or if it's a software issue. What do you guys think? ...This just started happening towards the middle of last week.

UPDATE: Took it to the dealership on Friday, and they fixed the software update/recall. As for the other issues I've been having, it turned out that the vehicle settings reverted back to a reset. The service person showed me the issue, and also taught me a number of things about my vehicle I never knew - including the reverse mirrors that tilt downward so that you don't hit the curb. That's brilliant, considering my wide rims. There were a few other features that were turned off, but I feel like an idiot for not going into my settings menu to check that stuff out.

I had both the brake fluid level detection recall as well as another recall for the serial gateway module done without drama on Thursday.

Took my 22 Yukon in yesterday at 7am for the latest update and got it back at 11am. So far no issues, nothing has changed all my phone contacts, trailer info etc was retained. Don't know what all it "fixed" as I don't see anything different, of course my Yukon was fine before I took it in with no issues.
