Proud/Frustrated owner of brand new 2025 Yukon XL Denali with reserve package and air ride (not the capability package with the elocker, just air ride).

Anyways, bought the car on February 28th, picked up the next day on March 1st after detailing. On the ride home, I noticed that the forward "collision warning system unavailable" message was showing up, along with the warning light. Also intermittently it wouldn't flash that the "Rear Pedestrian Warning" was unavailable. The car lane assist wouldn't activate, nor would adaptive cruise, or supercruise. Also I noticed that speed limit signal were not showing up on the HUD. Drove the car for 6 days and brought it in last Thursday for the service appointment and to pick up the GMC all weather mats for all 3 rows.

3 days (business days), 5 calendar days later, and per checking in with them today, they still don't have a clue what is wrong. So frustrating to save for a 100k vehicle only to have it poop the bed on the drive out of the dealership. Not mad at the dealer, they gave me a rental car to use, but frustrated as hell at GM. Sorry to vent, but hoping/not hoping someone else has had this happen and they might have a solution!

Absolutely loved the car and the refreshed interior for the few days I got to drive it!

This almost sounds like the truck didn’t have the full PDI service wasn’t done and something/one in the service department did not check all the boxes to turn on all your features?

Yeah, they have been slowly going through each of the systems. At first they thought it might randomly be related to the rear seat entertainment (no clue how they came to that), but then they were thinking front camera, and then image processing sensor..., so far....we're still at square one....

They are being guided by the factory… it’s probably a bad module.. or shorted wire (or bad connector)… take time to trouble shot.

You could go talk to the general manager, he may step up (don’t count on it’

The speed limit sign will not show up on the HUD all the time. Depends if the vehicle has Super Cruise or not. On non Super Cruise vehicles the speed limit sign is from the GPS database. My street which has a 25 MPH speed limit shows up as 55 MPH! Often there are no speed limit signs depending on what is in the database, sometimes when road constuctions is going on the database is not up to date and they put a null value in for speed. I have an area where the highway construstion has been completed and the data has not been updated yet.

If you have Super Cruise, I cannot confirm if the cameras will actually "Read" the speed limit signs, this is what I have been led to believe. It may just be pulled from the GPS database.

As for some of the other issues, if the windows are wet, the windows are foggy or even if the exhaust is steaming, you can get unusual/strange behavior.

I have had the front Collision Warning turn yellow often when starting the vehicle cold sitting outside and/or if the window is frosted or has a bit of moisture. When backing up I have had the Pedestrian warning many times due to steam from the exhaust being detected.

I have even had the front collision warning flash the HUD red and vibrate the seat a number of times when there was a car turning in front of me that was no where near a collision, but I must have been closing in at a rate the software was triggered. But the vehicle was turning out of my way and was maybe only 1/4 still in shoulder of the road.

So before you have the dealer tear the truck apart, you might want to pick it up and drive it for a few weeks. There might even be some over the air update that may resolve the problems as well.

The camera system doesn't actually read the sign like a person it all comes from the GPS

I was pretty sure this was the case, however, I had seen people referencing that the speed limit signs were read by the front camera, which I thought was HIGHLY unlikely, but since I have done ABSOLUTELY no research into Super Cruise (because I have NO interest in someone writing software for driving my car that likely has never driven and/or takes public transportation) I did not want to state something that may have been incorrect.

I think with anyone that is updating to the newest technology they need to live with it a few weeks before they get to concerned it is not working correctly. I have had many occasions where my front Collision Avoidance and/or Lane Correction did not work because of ice, frost or dew on the cameras and/or sensors. Usually after driving for a while, the systems start to function and any errors or lights clear automatically.

Just heard back from the dealership. They have deduced that it is the "Image Processing Control Module" that is malfunctioning. It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't work and they think it is a soder joint somewhere on the board that is acting up. New part arrived today, they will install and test drive the car tomorrow. The dealership has been great to work! Hopefully its all good to go, will report back.

I don’t have SuperCruise (really wish I did) but I have adaptive cruise and I am impressed by how good it is, especially giving the speed limit and road conditions. I live in an area on the east coast of Florida and most of the roads are in the data base. Not sure if apple carplay or Google is the data but I get the speed limit and direction symbol on the HUD if I use navigation.

There are some errors on speed limit but usually correct itself once I get on main road.

Per the dealership, "new part is in, all the codes are gone, but now we can't get OnStar to work/connect with the car, awaiting tech support from GM'... The saga continues... Slowly researching California lemon laws, looks like they have 30 non consecutive days. So far they are at 7 days, I got to drive the car for 6 before taking it to the dealer.

Sounds like they're guessing, and throwing parts at it. i agree with a previous post, in that, it sounds like the car wasn't fully PDI'D. I bet the Constar didn't work before either. Don't scrap the vehicle because they're inept. If possible find another dealer who would be willing to look at it. You might get lucky and find a Tech that knows what he's doing. I was also thinking... Did they get something too wet when they detailed it? Might just be a bad connector (as has been stated) Stay on them, you spent a lot of money. Don't fall for the BS. You should be talking to the service manager or service director. Not an advisor, most don't know about repairs. Just selling service... I know i was one of the ones that could also fix cars. Good luck!!

There are over the air updates? Are these the updates where the dealer will tell me to press the onstar button and 'check for updates' or is this something else?

Thanks!!! I've actually felt pretty supported by the dealership thus far. They put me in a Sierra loaner car right away and have been checking in with me daily. I've got both my cars service advisor and the general manager (who also overseas service) checking in on me.

Its unfortunate that the car has been out of commission but I can't pass much/any blame on the dealer, especially since it did it as I drove the car home. Car has 150 miles on it when I bought it, but 90% of those came from moving the car from another dealership to my dealership (My dealership traded for it). In the end, I think they'll do me right... Just frustrating not having the new family hauler.

I don’t think this is the case, based on the fact that the dealer is engaged w/ the TAC (technical assistance center) at GM. I get the OP’s frustration, and it shouldn’t happen. That said, it’s a machine, designed and made by man. It isn’t perfect and neither are we. I always say, “stuff happens. It’s what happens after stuff happens that matters.” The dealer is stepping up; so due to that, OP is pretty satisfied.

To the OP. The up side of this experience is that you are building a relationship with key personnel at the dealer; and trust and those relationships will enhance your ownership in the long haul. Hope they solve it soon. Let us know how it ends!

The speed limit sign is part of the info from OnStar data. The data comes from att and is not solely part of the gps program like the old system. So if the vehicle is in an iffy area the speed limit sign drops off.
To me it seems like the gps program from google is faster than the att data. Or the att signal is lost.
I’ve lost that sign in places where I expected to lose it. Ie parking lots but have also lost it on major highways in the north east. Ie NJ Pa and NY where I didn’t expect to lose it

My 21 Tahoe HC requires data plan (AT&T $10.00 per month) to keep the connection with all things wireless to function. Onstar tired to tell me they would provide the connecttion for $25..PFF. Not happening onstar!

Not exactly true.

The Data comes from the Offline Maps data that is downloaded to the infotainment screen. Normal google maps apps (be they iOS, Android, or even PC/Mac/Chromebook) allow you to download maps for offline use, and they have a 12 month expiration. The GM system seems to be set to about a week, then your offline map expires.

So, you don't get maps data or speed limit data off the head unit if you don't have an active data connection to run your system and constantly update offline maps.

You may be able to make a hotspot out of your phone, and connect the head unit to it...but it is not "sticky" meaning you have ot start this connection on every startup...Yes, it is a money grab by OnStar/GM/ATT...the up side is you always have fresh map data.

I’m rarely in my car without my phone, why not just use your phone maps? I bought a pre-owned and I have a detailed travel history of the previous owner.
