I had a ‘21 Tahoe RST and traded it in for a ‘25 Camry but I’m in the market for a 2026 Yukon Denali Glacier White Tricoat. Has anyone ever ordered a vehicle from outside of their home state? Prices in Vegas are averaging between $89-96k and don’t know if they’re offering any incentives and am considering buying one from out of state. Rivard GMC in Florida start at $80k but don’t know the process of ordering out of state and what fees I will accrue besides shipping. Planning on visiting GMC dealers here in Vegas within the next upcoming days and see what they offer, if anything. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

I’ve ordered a dodge hellcat out of state before. Pretty painless. Call the dealer, order car, and pick it up. I don’t recall any issues I had?

Also I just bought a brand new 2026 Tahoe RST. Chevy isn’t offering any incentives but I got the dealer to give me a few thousand off and get rid of all their dealer markups like fabric protection blah blah. They had an about 2k over sticker of ridiculous crap including nitrogen fill lol. That’s the best I could do without really going balls to the wall negotiating with several dealers…..

Back to the buying out of state unless it’s a brand new car that was delivered yesterday I would want to check the car out in person and do the deal there. I’d recommend driving or flying out and doing the deal. I wouldn’t trust them delivering it because if there’s damage it will be finger pointing.

Buying out of state is pretty easy. Its basically the same process as buying at your local dealer, just all done over phone/email.

They will still be able to help you find financing if you need it and you can do all the paperwork with the finance department through email. You can choose to pick the car up or have them arrange transportation for it.

This is something they should deal with regularly, meaning the process should be painless. I do believe you will have to go to your local DMV to pay the taxes/get it registered. That part I am unfamiliar with

I live in NJ and bought a new car in PA. They handled all the paperwork and taxes, my plates were mailed to me. No need to go to MVC.

I live in Illinois and bought my 2026 Yukon Denali from Rivard in Florida. They have lots of experience selling cars to out of state customers and they made it simple. You can pick it up and drive home or they will arrange to ship it.

I have purchased out of state new and used nine times now. The strategy expands my market of available cars and deals. The last one was an IS350 F Sport purchased in October out of Indiana. It was in transit to the dealer, so I had to wait a few weeks. Best discount by far by working with them through email and SMS. When the car was available, I rented a U-Haul trailer, hooked it to my Yukon, and drove the 8-hour round trip from Ohio to retrieve it.

Sometimes there will be regional issues you have to recognize. For example with this Lexus, I couldn't find any in Florida with AWD (I should not have been surprised).

The most difficulty I have encountered? The Indiana dealer needed multiple items of proof I owned property in Ohio, since I am a Florida resident but licensing the car in OH. Good thing I didn't plan to use a Montana LLC for this one! Also with these transactions you have to balance price against shipping fees, which are normally in the $1800 range for me with a covered shipper.
