WOW! I guess for the miles on your trucks the engine is really not that old. my 99 just turned 116k, BUT the engine looks nowhere near that clean. I was gonna clean my bay once but the mechanic told me the layer of crud was a like a second skin to the computer!! LOL

A SECOND SKIN OF CRUD FOR THE COMPUTER.

This may become my new excuse for not keeping my engine clean.

N O T !!!!!!!!!

Germans clean everything!!!

You already knew that!!!!

An instructor of mine once said that the Allies made a huge mistake when they bombed Germany.

He said that all that needed to be done was to load the FLYING FORTRESS Bombers full of SH@T, GARBAGE, DIRT and whatever else kind of TRASH one would find.

The Germans would have brought each and every soldier back from the Front Lines in order to help clean up Germany. :rotflmao:

Absolutely: Drive that new rig of yours out my way for a nice vacation in Cali. Have the back seat folded down and the cargo area full of Blue Moon or Shock Top and I will explain to you while taking care of the cold adult beverages as to HOW to keep that engine clean. :)

when checking out a used denali, what are some key things to check up on? as any vehicle, it will be nice to know what to look for when buying used...

Piston slap, wind noise on drivers side window (some people say they have this, I dont), blown speaker on passenger rear door, umm i think thats it.

Im OCD/**** but look for the ones that have the bumper hitch cover. I lost mine during a move and its driving me crazy looking at it naked

All vehicles have their particular/specific historical issues ... on the NNBS GM full size SUVs, some of the most documented ones are:

- Cracked dash
- Lock actuators
- Loose/rattling rear windows

But if you find an 08 Denali that's evaded these issues, they are unlikely to surface at this point.

Paint pealing, but i'm only aware of that on black trucks.

Peeling paint doesn't sound like something that should be happening no matter what the color.

From GM: Corrosion Protection

GMC vehicles are designed and built to resist corrosion. All body and sheet metal components are warranted against rust-through corrosion for 6 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Application of additional rust-inhibiting materials is not required under the corrosion coverage and none is recommended.

Now some parts of the interior trims do have a tendency to peel over time.

Well, here are pictures of my Engine, 2006 Yukon, 90K miles.

As mentioned earlier, maybe I am spoiled because I am from California, but this is the way I like for an Engine Bay to look like. ;)

I see a smudge on the back right side of the engine cover... :D

I just went outside and took care of this. Can't believe I did not notice that earlier myself.

So i put a deposit on a 2008.....has 60k on it...fully loaded...clean everything...only thing i can see is that the AC button blinks when pressed and then remains off...is this due to the cold temperature outside or is it a fault? its 31degrees here in MI right now...

Can't speak for an NNBS Truck (2007+), but I am pretty sure that on my 2006NBS Truck, the AC button will do exactly what you decribed if the vent mode is in "Defrost".

I do believe that on the NBS Tucks, the A/C will only work if the setting is set on the "vent" or "vent/floor". I do not think it will work when the setting is on "deforst or defrost/floor".

I know the same goes for the air circulation button. It will only circulate fresh outside air on specific settings, otherwise the button will "blink" and go eventually off as you described above.
