I am looking for a cleaner look on my Tahoe and it has like a molding on the front and rear doors. Does anybody know how to remove it and if I do remove it will there be any wholes or anything like that behind it?

no holes. heat gun to heat up the adhesive, fishing line to slide it back there and separate molding from adhesive. after you get molding off purchase the 3M Adhesive Eraser Wheel. and that works magic and wash & wax after

Thanks to all of you... I'm hopefully buying the eraser wheel tonight and getting the molding off asap.

got a quick question about the demolding/debadging...i have already taken my badges and miolding off and i used the eraser wheel, and some denatured alcohol to try and get rid of the "residue outline" but i havnt had any luck in removing it, i was able tot get the tape off just not this....any ideas?
i was gonna clay bar and wax it today but it started raining!!(of course!)

Thanks for any help!

I don't think clay bar is going to remove the outline but it couldn't hurt and since you have it, do the whole truck. I think rubbing compound will get rid of it.

thanks fellas! I went and got some of that mcguires scratch X 2.0 and it worked pretty well! there are still a couple spots where you can see some lines but im sure with a little more elbow grease ill be able to get it, it worked great where the emblems were...its the door molding that are giving me the headache! but all in all is barely visible unless you are looking eye level with it...

thanks for all your help ill post pics in a few, in a new thread!

If you can get a hold of a Dewalt (or any brand for that matter) electric polisher it works wonders with rubbing or polishing compound. I just removed my pinstripes and it buffed the residue right off. Plus took care of swirls and minor scratches at the same time. I still need to get some pics up too which I might be able to do this weekend. Still have several body panels to polish yet.

I was just getting ready to start searching the site about this, now I don't have to because of this thread!

Night fury's technique is the best way that"s how i demold/debage all my cars.and if your having a lil trouble with the glue coming off use a little bit of goo-gone let it sit for 5 min or heat it up a little bit with the blowdryer and rub away u might have to repeat the process a couple times but it works great.jus make sure to rise off with soap and water after every coat of goo gone. then wax and your good to go

IMO they look so much better in place on the GMCs. The stripped version looks just that- stripped. like a fleet vehicle.
