Roof Rack Cross Bars for Yukon

Hello internet,
I have a 2017 GMC Yukon, my FIL owns a previous generation Yukon XL (his is a 2011 model). He has a set of roof rack cross bars that he bought for his Yukon but never used. Said I could have them for free if they will work on mine. Anyone know if cross bars for previous generation will work on newer models?

That’s a negative. GM changed how the cross rails mount to the side rails with the latest generation suv. It’s a totally different setup than from the 2011 style.

Bummer. Looks like I'll have to shell out thet cash for a set of cross bars. Thanks for the reply.

took the cross bars off my 16 LTZ.....willing to sell if they work on the Yukon - I don't know if they're interchangeable.

I looked the part numbers up in another thread and they were the same.
