Once you do a certain amount of buying from them, they will send discount codes to you as well. I have no idea what that limit is. They used to send discount codes to all customers via emails but now the codes are limited to high $ buyers.
Ahh, could be I'm too small.. and could be I use my lady's email and I never check it..

Either way, I appreciate you!

Where? I looked around on his user page just now and didn't run across a post regarding that.

I just did a $375 order yesterday, so it won't be a help now, but it'll be good to know for the future.
You can go to top right corner of any page and see the "Search". Click on that and type in "discount code". Then do the search and you will see a list of posts come up for discount codes and scroll thru them for a current one, usually closer to the top, and go to last page of the thread and should see an 18 digit discount code to use. At RA, where it says, "How did you hear about Us", that is where you type in the 18 numbers and when you hit enter, you will see your parts total reduce by 5%.

Has anyone ever heard of and/or used Parts Geek? Their prices are not as good as RA and have no discount code and maybe even higher shipping charges. I tried them once and it took 2 days longer than what I was told, for shipping.

Yes, I used them six years ago for a '94 Camry antenna mast. $15.18 for the part and $9.95 for the shipping. If I recall correctly, I used them because they were the only ones who had it in stock.

IIRC, that is why I used Parts Geek too. They had a part that was out of stock at RA.
At any place, like RA or PG or OE suppliers, I never order fluids. Too much weight for shipping and chances for fluid leak problems.

I order fluids off of amazon, if it leaks at all, they tell you to dispose of it and they send a replacement, this results in my keeping what had a tiny leak and getting another set for next time for free, lol
same if you get dented cans, they don't want it back they just send more
hell I even got a free $800 smart phone out of them because the idiots sent it from 10 miles away to kansas and a criss-cross usa wide trip, I called and bitched and they sent a replacement the next day, meanwhile the first one showed up a week later and they told me keep it.
I have also ordered stuff and they sent me a case pack instead of just 1 piece, works for me....
it's not like i'm taking advantage, they don't want to deal with chemicals leaking, nor take back dented cans, I can buy dented cans at the discount store if that's what I wanted.

Did you call them again?
I'd certainly use a chargeback if they didn't take care of it.

I'd be pissed, but I wouldn't take it personally..
People screw up now and then, especially a big company with lots of people spread out across 3 warehouses etc..
It was a $7 part and wasn't worth the hassle.

I will usually order from rock auto when doing preventative maintenance projects that I can plan ahead of time and get good prices on parts that aren’t needed right away for immediate repair. I’ve always had good luck with them. Only had to return one time so far in the years I’ve used them and it was simple to fill out the online return form. They didn’t give me any hassle. I believe I did have to pay return shipping but no issues with getting the money refunds

I have received many oem parts via Rock Auto and I am convinced they came from local dealers.
Once I did receive a return though because there were greasy finger prints on the part. They promptly took it back and gave a full refund.
Other than that I have always been happy, especially with comparing prices to the local dealers.
Shipping is generally reasonable (provided the full order comes from one place) and generally less than I could ever ship things for.
But policies can change and I don't know what they currently are regarding returns and refunds.

That's because a lot of em never used the codes and gave em away to people who do order a lot so now they're getting discounts with most of their purchases. I'm sure they caught on to that. For example: I used to order from them a little bit years ago and would receive discounts codes, but I found they would expire by the next time I needed something. So I would give them to one of my brothers to use. And one brother is a mechanic so they definitely got used.

Codes can always be found on a variety of vehicle forums. I have never seen any more than 5% though so that just covers part of sales tax or part of shipping; not a lot of money and not a deal breaker comparing prices.

RA shipped me someone else's return. Box opened, other parts stuffed in the box. Not what I ordered.
Now they want to charge me for the return shipping !!!!
No one to speak with.
total trashy company.
Thanks for the heads up. I never do business with a company I cannot speak to on the telephone. When dealing with a new organization, I always call them first as a Test.

I have used RA a few times. RA sent me a wrong part that I didn’t realize until after 30 days. RA refused to assist me and would not provide a phone number to assist. I subsequently disputed the credit card charge and was credited by my cc company.

RA lacks common sense when it comes to basic customer service. In fact, RA owes the state of Arizona 11 million in retroactive sales tax. Furthermore, the Arizona court of appeals decided that third-party, and state distributors for RA constituted a, “substantial Nexus,” justifying tax collection.

Currently, RA has stopped shipping to Arizona customers to avoid these tax penalties.

I am from Bulgaria and for me, the only reliable source for American auto parts is RA for more than 10 years.
Papers are always clear (export and import) and I do not have any problems with customs here.
Last month my order arrived with missing part, another part doubled. I followed online procedure to report missing part. Replacement was shipped next day.The only drawback is that I have to pay VAT (20%) on this part twice.

I noticed something interesting. Sometimes, I use forwarding company with virtual address in Florida for sellers that do not ship overseas. Sometimes, RA internal shipping is higher then international.

Also, I try to buy only OEM parts if possible.

That just sounds like a sales tax food-fight between a company and a government. Happens all the time.
