rear video screen not working

i really didnt care too much about the rear video when i bought my 2010 suburban, but now that i know it doesnt work, i just want to know if its common. i can hear the sound from a dvd but no picture on the rear screen. if i put it in park it does play on the navi screen tho. just a bad screen?

Is it set in the menu for the rear display to show output from dvd or auxiliary input?
