Rear main seal

Is the rear main in a 96 tahoe 1 or 2 pieces?

1 piece. tranny must be shoved back and drive plate removed to get to it.

when you say "shoved back".. meaning you dont have to completely remove the trans from the frame? how far back? assuming already removing the driveshaft

best to remove it butif you can shove the assembly back about six inches you should be able to get to it.
