I could do a search and find my answer most likely. But this section of this forum is so slow day to day, I don't feel bad starting a new thread.

Vote Early, Vote Often!

If you were going to eBaY and purchasing a set of rear LED tail lights right now, which ones would you end up purchasing? I don't feel like wasting $150 to $200 on junk.

It doesn't have to be an eBaY purchase if you can link me to a good light at a reputable merchant.

I would buy the IPCW Ruby Red ones again ... I was so disappointed they didn't work on the hybrid. :(

I still have them in the closet somewhere ... if you don't mind redoing the connections you can have them on the cheap.

Erm, I'm not exactly sure ... the plug and play connectors were cut off to connect the wires to the hybrid wires which are a little different. It would simply be a matter of running the correct wires from your hoe to the correct lamps on the tails. It's not that complicated, any shop could handle it in a few minutes.

I'll take a pic and pm it to you, I didn't mean to try to sell you something or derail the thread ... I just remembered I still had them and loved how they looked.

At this time, I prefer not to butcher my factory harness.

And who is Felix?

By the way. Nothing has to be done. My G4 LED Tails ended up having to have the 6 ohm resistors changed out. The G5's are true plug and play. No resistor/harness issues. Just unplug your old ones and plug these in.

That's the esky 'look' the G5 have ... you'd need the esky d pillar applique to make it look right.

The G4 are the same lighting but with the rounded Tahoe/Yukon shaped housings.

It's kind of funny that Sherif acknowledged not searching for this topic, then goes ahead and asked all the questions answered in the other thread(s). :)

But, it's ok, 'cause it's a good topic.

My take:

- The IPCW (?) ones have oval-shaped LED recesses and a rounded-off backup light area, and I don't like that look on these trucks. Also, they cost more than the G4s (I think).

- The G4s on eBay are all the same. Regardless of how they're branded, they're all the same. I'd look for ones that come with resistors, have a good return policy, and are cheap. These look the cleanest, and you don't need to swap appliqués.

- The G5s don't necessarily look BETTER than the G4s -- they just look exactly like the Esky ones. If you like the look of Esky lights best, then go for these, but also expect to change your appliqués, since they're designed to match the Esky appliqués. If you just want clean-looking LEDs that flow with your truck, then go for the G4s.

- I wouldn't entertain the idea of any of the other LED lights out there. I think they look like crap.

That's been my problem so far, just don't see anything out there that doesn't look like cheap crap. We're making progress in this thread though. I don't think I want to change anything to make the G5 look right. The G4 have issues? Is there a happy medium out there anywhere? Like a G4 without issues? I also don't want to butcher my original factory wiring harness. What would really be nice is if Chevrolet introduced LED tail lights on the 2012 model Tahoe. Then all I would have to do is buy 2 of them. :)

DTAILS has some tails that look identical to the oem Tahoe tails but are LED tails. It looks good especially if you are trying to stay stock.

Well knowing what you said about them having different tails, I never tried. But yea the tails sitting in the garage in a box makes it very tempting to just mock it up to see what it would look like if they made a G5 Avy version...

Btw Sheriff, surprisingly the G5's don't look bad without the appliques. I'm pretty OCD about stuff and it didn't bother me that much. I just really zoomed in to show every angle of the G5 tails since they are new and no one else here has done it :Handshake:
