alright so i know nothing about gearing. 2004 Z71 Hoe running a 6" lift with 35" tires. stock gears at 3.73s. someone said 4.10s but others rec 4.56s. i drive highway city and offroad as much i hve the time so i need overall. but the stock gears just dont do the job. someone also said 4.88 but i think thats a little too much. what do i do? and about how much should it run? first quote was just about $2000 but i feel like thats way too much.

4.56, I am doing 4.10 with 31" tall tire.

Price around, $2000 is high, but is that new front/rear R&P, installation kit, True Trac, etc?

Blueflamed you have a 4.8 right? What was your ratio before the gear swap? I'm getting ready to have 4.11's installed on mine and was just wondering about performance and gas mileage?

Clint,
yes, 4.8 then added the 31" tall tires on a weak 3.42 already. The 4.11's will really help around town, and on highway to where it doesnt 'lug' the engine. On hiils I was always into the pedal to get it going. this should how the kickdown to get the increase.

Now add the 4.11 to the custom tune, I cant wait to do my first WOT pull...it was great with the 3.42's, cant imagine after 4.11's :D

That sounds exactly like my truck, except I have 22's and 3.23 gears with a 4.8. I will be doing gears next. Calling around trying to get prices on install now!Just got a tune and it helped get this big ***** moving! Want to do gears,LT/ory, and maybe a converter.
