I got this set of R1 Concepts Premier rotors from R1 on eBay. Before installing them I found a popped air bubble/void in the rotor. Will this be an issue? Should I try to return it for a replacement?

Thanks for the feedback. I've been in touch with R1 who had some questions regarding part number and front or rear. I'm waiting to hear back from them again. I'll post the outcome.

They were $400 shipped for front and rear with pads.

If I'm not upgrading to bigger rotors and calipers I'll just stick with oem rotors for about $150 a set. Then I get my pads from autozone which offer lifetime replacement. So whenever I change them at home, I just bring the used pads back and get a free replacement. No questions asked!

Are you sure thats a popped air bubble? It's perfectly lined up to the drilled hole....wonder if was going to be a hole they were drilling and realized it was the wrong place. Either way I'd return those.

I thought that at first, but it's not even as a drilled hole would be. Agree either way it's defective. Waiting for a response back from R1 Concepts. Hopefully they just send me a new one and tell me to scrap this one, or send a call tag to ship it back to them.

They said they are going to replace, but the replacement process will take a minimum of 10 business days. Tomorrow is day 10.

i need new brakes and have been looking at R1 Concepts since many people seem to say good things about them, but after seeing a defect on the rotors would you still recommend i go for them or look for something else?.

The reason I bought them is because of the good reviews. The one rear rotor has either porosity in the casting, or the machinist started to drill in the wrong spot. R1 Concepts is replacing it, it's just taking a little longer that I would like.

Everything also looked like it was good quality. The fronts are on and feel great.

I have a set of R1's and haven't had any issues in over two years. Although I can't tell much difference in stopping power.

This is resolved. R1 sent a replacement. I did not need to send the defective one back.

I ordered a set (don't believe they were R1s) for my STS-V and had some issues with a rear casting inside where the vanes are. What was interesting was the company sent a new set of front and rear rotors (I only had issue with one rear) and told me to keep the original set. I wound up with an extra set for the vehicle.

It seems they didn't want to mess with the return shipping (these things are heavy) or disposing of the old rotors.

I'd definitely contact the vendor and request a new rotor.
