It's actually the opposite. Removing the resonator makes it louder. The resonator muffles the exhaust system.

How fast are you driving to have a constant drone? The "loudest" part of the exhaust is around 3.5k revs. Surely you aren't just cruising around that or you'd be going pretty fast I'd think. Maybe a Suburban would better suit your needs. Or a Expedition EL.

need to quiet my Denali exhaust

Searching for a solution to this problem is how I found this site. I, too have become annoyed by the drone of the Denali exaust while cruising and am looking for solutions from someone with success at correcting this problem.

I was reading on here the other day and a guy was running 2 of the tube type mufflers to quiet his truck down. They are basically a hallow tube with baffles on sides and not restrictive at all. You could have one added to stock exhaust and it will tone it down some.

I can solve your problem.

Mine isnt loud enough and yours is too loud. So just swap out that pesky 6.2 for my 5.3 and we will both be happy.

2008 Denali Goes Much Much Faster!<----- Search for this thread in performance section. Somewhere in the 7 pages it has types of muffler used and pictures of dual muffler install.

Escalade much louder

Have you tried to compare it to an escalade to see if the esky is quieter?
Although it's unlikely, GM might have put a quieter system in the esky for the old folks that drive 'em. :)

Owned an Escalade for five years and just traded it for new LTZ. Hated the exhaust noise on the Esc so much I added another resonator to quiet her down. Love the New LTZ. Much quieter and smother feel. Can feel her work harder given the smaller pusher, but like it much better at $20k less.

Yikes, old thread bump.

Well I can see why the louder exhaust of the 6.2 might be too loud for some folks, others of course find the quietness of the 5.3 too tame and change their exhaust to make it louder.

For what it is worth, the newer dual exhaust 6.2 escalades resolve this issue and the exhaust is as, if not quiter than that of the 5.3s.

Not so. Started a brand new Esc when I traded in mine on Saturday. Turned it off right away as it sounded like the old Camaro SS I rode around in in high school. Dual was even louder.

What the heck is wrong with you people. The 6.2 sounds beautiful to me. I love the sound and wish my 5.3 sounded like it. Even with a resonator delete it sounds mild.

Having a Esky or Denali is like having a wild ***** and a lady at the same time.

Looks good at parties (parked) and fun in bed (when you step on the gas).

:win:

Gee, I guess you know what a dual exhaust escalade sounds like better than I do, ya know, because you turned a key.

Now, if another member comes by and happens to be like the two or so in the last two years who's issue is 'oh noes my suv is too loud and junk' then fair enough.

You can take my experience, that of an owner of a Nali 6.2 with res delete, an esky 6.2 with stock single exhaust, esky 6.2 with dual exhaust, a 6.0 Hybrid with and without res, and someone who has driven thousands of miles in 5.3s, or you can take the opinion of someone who's turned a key. Alternatively you can just go and drive them at some length and in various road conditions and figure it out for yourself.

Fact is the 6.2 with stock dual exhaust is pretty much on par volume wise with a stock 5.3, give or take a decibel and octave or two. And it is significantly quieter than a 6.2 with stock single exhaust, never mind res delete.

Camaro SS, sheesh. :manos:
