I did a lot of searching around and some people have regeared for 35s and some have not. I have 33s on my rig right now...my question is; how much of a necessity is it for me to regear if I opt to go with 35 inch tires?

Not too important. You will notice a slight lag when accel from stop and if the rig is strictly a street warrior and you don't drive the crap out of it then no big deal. You will get slightly worse fuel mileage.

I'm not very knowledgeable about gearing, but it probably depends on your what transmission and differential gearing you start with too
