I dropped my z71 off this morning for a few different issues. One of which had to do with the door seal and alignment. I was told “we are not a body shop so we won’t be able to address this”.

This was not a dent or ding, it’s an alignment but I guess that’s body shop work. I truly didn’t know that every Chevy dealership was not able to address all concerns.

Learned something new today. So do your research before you drop your vehicle off.

In my area i made an appointment on line for a transmission fluid exchange, turns out it is a service (pan drop, filter and refill) but a brake fluid exchange seams to be just that.
I will not bring them my Yukon ever again.
My wife's Tahoe is still under warrantee so there's that.

Is your vehicle still covered under the new-car warranty? If so, the dealer should have made arrangements with a body shop to have the vehicle repaired, as a sub-let warranty repair. The dealers are authorized by GM / Chevrolet to sell and service the vehicles under their warranty, as their representative.

I’m curious?

Why will you not bring your Yukon to the dealer again? Are you mad because they wanted to perform the pan drop, and filter and fluid change?

My vehicle is not even a month old yet.

I can not answer your question, I am simply relaying what the service advisor said to me. Needless to say, I am going to find a new Chevy dealer to be my go-to service department. Its a shame because this one is super close to my house

Don't just let it ride. That door will bug you forever. Been there myself years ago. Never seen a dealer without a body shop available. I'd spread the word on social too.

If you purchased it at the same dealer less than a month ago I would give my salesman a call.
I purchased it at a different dealership that’s about 25 min from my house.

Where it’s getting serviced right now is maybe 5 min. However for this repair it may be worth going back to the original dealership

I needed a fluid exchange (flush) not a service, just the wording is misleading, on the reseat stated service.
I ended doing a fluid exchange (flush) my self witch I should have from the beginning.

I took my new 1996 Impala SS in because the trunk lid did not fit right.
A young guy came walking out with a 2x4, and said let me see what I can do.
I told him forget it.

FWIW, nowhere in the service schedule of these vehicles does it recommend a transmission Fluid Exchange without replacing the filter (which means you have to drop the pan). And, the "normal" service schedule doesn't even call for a transmission fluid service at all, only the Severe (this is not a good way to make your transmission last -- I would suggest fluid and filter every 45k miles)

Attached are the normal and severe schedules from the OM. Note not mentioned on the normal schedule.

Yes, one could argue a fluid exchange using the machine and about 16qt of fluid actually gets more of the old fluid out than a pan drop and refill. That part all depends on the tech doing the work.

I just did this service (fluid and filter) 2000 miles ago, since I was close to the 45k severe interval. It is a labor intensive job, as the exhaust has to be disconnected on the 6.2 version to get it out of the way of the pan. Around $650 including filter and pan gasket.

Long story short, when I had the pan off doing a valve body upgrade (I did not have to lower the y pipe to pull the pan) changed the filter and refilled.

I did not know about mixing trans fluids was a no no, yes I am a dumb arss, after that about 4000 miles later the trans fluid looked and smelled bad.

Looked on line for what the dealer had to offer and listed under for services and they had TRANSMISSION FLUID EXCHANGE so I made an appointment.
After all sad and done only a service.

My vehicles are on a more frequent service schedule then what is call for by GM

Of course filter replacement

Looking at the service list you posted states change trans fluid, what does the mean? drop the pan and change filter only or flush witch would actually change the fluid

Look at the engine oil service schedule, "change engine oil and filter, if needed" ? 7500 miles

GM does not recommend using the transmission flush processes to change the transmission fluid, other than the new Corvette which has a special process to flush and change the transmission fluid filter (first service at 7,500 miles).

GM has even issued TSB’s stating that they do not recommend the flush method.
