Where does everyone buy there projector housings? What do you recommend? What bulbs do they take? Are they a direct fit or do they take some modifications to fit properly? And how much did they cost you?

DEPO housings seem to be the most popular around here, wherever you can find them cheapest. Prices vary a lot on the internet. Ebay is usually the best bet for deals. I picked mine up for $126 for the pair. The exact same ones elsewhere were more then double that. They are a direct fit, and I have a Denali so my bulb situation is slightly different then yours.

Yeah, DEPO lights seem to be the ONLY ones that don't have those annoying halo rings or LED's everywhere. But if that's what you're looking for then there are plenty of those to look through! Whatever you end up with, please spare us a picture. :D

Those are the ones I have, though I modded mine quite a bit.

They used to make a clear/chrome version, but I can't find it anywhere anymore, so I think you are stuck with the black. That's a decent price, too.

How is the light output on them as they come? Why did you mod them? Was there a huge difference in light output after modifying them?

Someone else answer that question....

I had planned all along to mod mine. I got them specifically for the TSX HID retrofit. I never even turned them on until after I'd done it, so I couldn't tell you how the stock output is. I just know there are a lot of them on this forum, but pretty much everyone has thrown in HID kits with them.

I ordered the DEPO housings along with a 55w 6000k HID kit for the lows. so we'll see how that works out. along with that i'll be doing the relay harness, and HID fog lights. if i can find the time i'll try to make a write up on everything.

pretty much the same question here...

I just registered to ask this same question, so I hope you don't mind if I piggyback on it a bit.
I just got an '03 Denali. I'd like to add smoked or black projector headlights. I've been searching everywhere for the right deal, and just when I thought I'd found it... I got nervous that I didn't have the proper bulbs!
Could somebody advise me about these, for example: http://www.dashzracing.com/Lighting...-LED-Projector-Headlights-Black-p7300516.html
What kind of bulbs would I need, assuming my stock bulbs are not appropriate?

Thanks!
Brandon

Dead of winter here so my photography tasks are lacking and the truck is filthy, but here's a few pics of what I did with my set of black depo's. Baked em and pulled the lenses, painted a black trim on the inner side of the lens and kinda stole the whole Audi led theme. Tough to get a well balance shot with the hids over powering the shot, but here's the results on the bench and installed:

Nice mod...looks good.

I thought about adding something like that to mine, but decided to keep it uncluttered. Kinda bummed I didn't do it now.

Thanks all, it's not 100% perfect but as you can see it's a one off look for sure.

As far as wiring, it's just tapped to the parking lamps. I took advantage of the outer heat vent to slip the wires through for a clean out of site look.

Something I'll try and get better pics of is the lenses themselves. The projectors were from an ebay vendor and for lack of a better explanation they were flawed in no way perfect. Slight scratches on the inside believe it or not and I've been in arguments with the vendor for quite some time.

The flaws enhanced in the bake process to unseal them so I'm annoyed by that. It's not something that is highly noticed, but I see it as the **** owner.

Anyhow, here's a few more shots of how I laid it out. You will see I painted a sort of trim on the inside of the lens only leaving basically the projector and high beam exposed to view. I did this mainly to aid with hiding the led strip mounting and the wiring.. Otherwise it would be on plain view.

In no particular order you will see that I made a mounting surface out of 1/4" plexi to mount the led strip on, I did this to raise it up above my trimmed paint line..Easiest way to do it is make a paper template and then transfer that to you plexi stock.

I epoxied the plexi to the base of the lens and hand painted it black to get it all to blend in. The wiring is run to the outer vents and in the pics you can see I simply use hot glue to keep the wires from ever moving once sealed up.

I'm not sure any of this helps much, I'll keep an eye on this post to help as needed. In reality a little imagination and this could be taken to all sorts of levels different than mine.

Sorry to the OP as this thread kinda got hijacked on accident.
