How many dealers are going out of their way to benefit the customer? Sure it may be as simple as a couple clicks of a mouse but someone at the dealership 1) has to know the unique exceptions, 2) be in a position to create a new process 3) be able to implement said process.

For those who took delivery in the last few weeks. Have the dealers been holding the the sold at cost ( let's say on a January order) to what is now on the window sticker prices?

I just got a email from my dealer. The difference between Jan 31 order date price and WS is +$2025 . A rebate check will come sometime after the sale is final. I'll come up with the 2K to keep the payment down and deposit it back to myself.

Finally able to see my window sticker and it shows the new price and not the price that I had when I placed the order. The sticker shows $68,030 and my buyer’s order shows $66,430. The dealer did tell me my price should be $66,430 since thats the agreed price when I placed the order and signed the buyers order. We will see what happens once the vehicle is delivered to the dealer.

You have GM price protection. There are articles that talk about it and the dealer will honor your first price.

Some caveats. It had to be a "sold order" (custom order) and you have to take delivery the first day possible.

I was expecting the sticker to show the old price and not the new price.

They tried to sell at the new price then said “oops” when I called them on it. Then they matched the price we agreed from the workbench order in march that included a $400 package discount that they couldn’t get to show up.
I was expecting the sticker to show the old price and not the new price.
Mine showed the new price as well. They will ALWAYS try to pull a fast one.

Did dealer gave you the print out of GM workbench when you ordered? That shows if it is retail stock order (TRE) or sold order (SRE). I bet dealer submitted yours as TRE hence no price protection.

Mine showed the new price. I talked to the Sales Manager and they gave me a credit for the difference.

Bringing this back...for those of you that were able to take advantage of price protection, how exactly did that work? Did you pay the increased price at time of delivery and then GM sent you a check some time later?

My dealer seems like he knows nothing about how this works but I know some of you guys have experienced it..

When the Tahoe arrived and I went to the dealership to pay for it, the salesman mentioned that the price had gone up, but they were discounting it to the price quoted when I ordered. I didn't have to do anything.

I expect that each dealership treats it how they want to, and some will do their best to not honor it, if they get to keep the difference.

Wow, that is a generous dealer. I suspect most dealers would not just eat the cost like that....

I ordered in February and sticker increased by $2,300. Dealer worked with me and kept at original order price and stated that they would work with GM to get the difference back.

This is the same thing that happened to me. Price went up a little. Dealer matched off of the workbench price. They also honored the package discounts that could not be added because it was a workbench order. You just have to keep your eyes open. Don’t let the finance guy quick sell you.

I ordered a Tahoe 12/31 and took delivery 4/27. Sticker price went up $625. Didn’t think anything of it because I was just happy to take delivery. Fast forward to this past Wednesday, 7/27, and I get a phone call from the dealer that they just received a price protection payment from Chevy and they are sending me a $625 check. Wasn’t expecting it so this is a nice little bonus on top of getting a great vehicle.

That's about how much ours went up as well, timeline very similar (ordered in Jan - took delivery in Apr) doubt we'll see a check though.

It's real easy to say that GM has price protection, but from a few articles I've read on it, it's not automatic and the dealer has to apply for it. With that said, the majority of dealers I've dealt with seem as if they aren't as thorough on the admin duties or they act like they aren't even aware of some of these policies.

Wow some of you guys have some great dealers. I'm quite surprised. This whole price protection thing still seems a little fuzzy to me as far as what steps you have to take (other than having a "Retail Sold SRE" order). I'm curious how many of these dealers are eating the cost themselves and how many actually get re-reimbursed by GM.

Just a update. I received my price protection check in the mail yesterday. Mind you it wasn't for the MSRP difference as I can get FF discount.
