Power steering fluid stop leak?

I know this is considered a band aid repair but my daughter's friend has a 04 Tahoe that is hard for her to turn and when I heard it the other day it sounded just like a power steering pump with no fluid.We are going to leave on vacation after this week and will only have a brief amount of time to check out this Sunday.So the only thing I will able to do is put fluid in it and do a quick check for a bad leak then do the repair if needed when I get back from vacation.Has anyone had any luck using a stop leak or should I just stick with regular old power steering fluid?

Definitely only use regular power steering fluid. You don't want that stop leak crap going through the system. I'd only use that stuff in an extreme emergency. Stick with regular fluid.

Don't bother with stopleak. It never cleans anything.
You've time to buy extra bottles of regular old power steering fluid, right? If there's a leak, at least the extra fluid will clean the rest of the system.
