Nvm. FYI, vehicle needs to be running to get your signal, not just key in run position.
My mistake. Yes, key can be in run position only while in reverse and the reverse lights do come on.Do the back up lights not come on when the key is in the "Run" position without the vehicle running?
Ok, so this would be a good signal wire to go to the camera and radio. My mistake. Yes, key can be in run position only while in reverse and the reverse lights do come on.
I have seen some people wire them so that they are always on, and you just select camera on your radio to show what is behind you. I would rather it come on automatically when I put it in reverse.
The camera that I bought has 4 LED lights built in to it, so if it is always on, the lights will always be on. That is pretty much the only reason that I only want it on when in reverse.I wired mine this way,...I had the option of doing either way,...but I thought there may be times when I want to see whats behind me without putting it in reverse. For example,..some ***** was trying to squeeze into a space behind me while I waited on line at the train st,... I pushed the cam button to watch her! lol.
Mine has the LED's as well, they are only for night vision..and only powered when ignition is on.The camera that I bought has 4 LED lights built in to it, so if it is always on, the lights will always be on. That is pretty much the only reason that I only want it on when in reverse.
Right, I just don't want them on all the time (as in while I am driving). I only want them on when they camera is engaged.Mine has the LED's as well, they are only for night vision..and only powered when ignition is on.
Yes, it's a good wire for that. I kind of like the idea of it being on all the time. That could come in handy. Yes, mine is tag mounted, but it's not working. I think there's a problem inside the radio itself. It's a brand new camera.Ok, so this would be a good signal wire to go to the camera and radio.

Is yours a tag mounted camera?

Lol, I can't lie....so you can see ID the a$$hole that is tailgating you !!
I thought about wiring it up that way, but the my only complaint is that the LED lights that are built in to the camera would always be on as long as the vehicle is on. Not really an "issue", just don't want the lights on at night for instance while driving down the road. I am not sure if it may prohibit a cop from seeing my license plate with 4 LED lights right now to it.I’m not sure exactly how my rear cam is wired in cuz I had a shop do it, but’s wired to my reverse line so it automatically engages when I put my truck in reverse. But it’s also wired into another constant power source as my head unit has the option already to pull it up when reverse isn’t engaged. So when, for instance towing a jet ski trailer I can pull up my camera with my shortcut button, when I can’t see the jet ski tagging along in the mirror and make sure it’s where I want it. It’s quite the angst
Yeah, I don't think those are leds, they look like some kind of sensors or something. Just took a pic, maybe they are. The top is a sensor.I think they are barely noticable,..but now you have me wondering,... Ill check it out at night.
