Peculiar noise in rear cabin.

Not a functional failure (to my knowledge) but curious if it might be symptomatic if an issue I should address.

As with all things annoying, this noise occurs sporadically anf I can’t quite resolve the “when/why” that triggers it.

So on random occasions, when I open either the rear doors, or the lift gate (2016 non-powered), I hear what sounds like a quiet motor actuating behind the passenger side cover panel. It lasts only a few seconds (maybe 3-5s) and doesn’t repeat for a while.

The vehicle has no issues locking/unlocking, the doors and lift gate function fine.

More of a curiosity than a necessary fix?

normal operation, that is the fuel pump and other systems coming online. This is inherently different than previous generations where you had to insert and turn the key to run first.
on the 2015+ this happens from the simple act of opening a door/hatch.
you may also note seeing the radio screen and/or cluster light up as well with the chevy/gmc logo
at minimum you will see the mileage show up on the cluster when opening the door. it lights up for a few seconds and goes out if no further actions are taken.

you may also note the k2 engines are "noisy" compared to previous generations, it is common to hear the injectors clicking and you will also hear what sounds like a clock ticking every 1 1/2-2 seconds or less (which I suspect is the vacuum pump but 100% sure). all normal.
