You asked same question in another thread:

Does your wireless data work? Ie your google maps on the infotainment system, etc?

Did you activate service with OnStar.

You are saying the symptom is no light on on the console?
Did you push the button, does it connect to OnStar, or say you don't have a plan?

Really, I think taking it to the dealer is the only option.

I got rid of my OnStar. Just wasn’t worth the money and it didn’t work half the time anyway. They have loads of excuses and it’s all BS!

Did you have a software update performed by the dealership, and then found that OnStar no longer worked? There are threads here about a recent update frying folks' OnStar interface. Could it be from that?

Same here but on my 23 Sierra. Pushing the button does nothing. The only help from calling OnStar was take it to the dealer. Anyone have success with a reset? If so how was it done? My other gizmos work fine.

I have this problem with my 22 Tahoe. Took it in Jan 6, 25. Said it needed a software update. Needed the update but that did not fix the problem. Said they ordered a module and it would be here in 7 to 10 days. I think it has been about 70 days. Meanwhile no OnStar, no road speed limit readout, direction is stuck on N, had to put clock on manual, no Nav.
Called GM. Said they would "ESCALATE". 2 weeks later they said it is not a GM part so there is nothing they can do. Well ESCALATE this..... All the dealer says is that it is back-ordered.
The dealer is Capital Chevrolet in Wake Forest, NC. No way to talk to anyone there unless you want to buy a vehicle. You can only leave voicemail and then no one ever calls back.
I will go there in person this week. How can it possibly take 10 weeks to get a part?

I called my dealer after a few weeks and he said it just showed back order but no date. It came in about a week later. They did the recall update after putting the new one in. They said no need to update a bad module. All good now.

Emailed the service manager at the dealer. He got back to me and said that, surprise, after waiting for 10 weeks the part, an Onstar telematics control module, has been shipped and should be here by the end of the week. I did not get a part number but hopefully I don't need it. I should get it on the invoice/work order once it is done?

Might be a wiser idea to PM @915_Tahoe your VIN as I would not want to put more info out in the cloud than necessary.

Call me crazy, but a factory failure of On-Star seems like a blessing.......for those of us who don't want big brother riding shotgun. I've disabled my 2017, and I'm not sure if my 2008 still works, but will remove that possibility next time I'm in the mood to take apart the dash.

If your apple or android function still works through the radio, can't that just be good for navigation? I see the need for super cruise though if that's what you want/like.

Pulled the fuse for OnStar in my 2005 Yukon Denali ages ago. There were problems with the module waking up and not going back to sleep killing the battery. Often the problem is when GM was trying to pull vehicle status so they could show you month reports so you would continue to pay for OnStar.

The other possible issue is the Cell Phone standards are quickly changing and I think 2025 has true 3 GHz 5G support, but 2024 and earlier possibly did not. The other thing people do not realize with 3 GHz 5G is limited in range and attenuated more by vegitation than the older 900-1800 MHz systems. Where I live we used to barely have 4G LTE but it was usually functional, they upgraded to 3 GHz 5G and we have gone from bad to WORSE!!!

Some manufacturers were forced to either give owners checks or upgrade the cellular module to the newer standards when the old system was considered obsolete. Will be interesting to see what happens with OnStar and the migration to 5G.

Careful what you wish for. Updated technology is not aways better.

Like many I’m not going to sign up for a Wi-Fi hotspot plan once the free trial is over. The other features are good for 10 years and are pretty nice. The app is pretty good. Without OnStar it’s worthless.

I’m not concerned about big brother in my truck. He already knows when I go to the bathroom and how long I stay from 100 other access points. If they want to waste money tracking a worthless old man have at!

Got the module replaced. Everything is working. Got a "free" 3 months from OnStar One to make up for over 3 months I did not have it. Looking for refund for data plan that I had. Has to be approved. Only had it because I was moving from San Diego to Raleigh traveling cross country last year. Had Essentials plan for trip. Will go with Safety and Security plan after the 3 months. Don't need any of the extras but want vehicle status, app, stolen vehicle.
Logged in to my account and was looking at pricing for plans. Said $42.99 for One. $32.99 for Saf and Sec. Just went to OnStar, did not login, and both plans were $10 less? WTW?

Yeah, the extras aren’t worth what they’re asking for. The 10 yea free plan has everything I need. I still haven’t tried using my phon’s hotspot for updates but I think it can be done.
