oil cooler

i noticed that my radiator has two connections not being used. are these for the optional oil cooler? if so, would it be worth hooking up or getting an aftermarket oil cooler? i figure an aftermarket cooler would cool better just becuase its not shared with the coolant and trans fluids

Liquid to liquid cooler is more efficient then a stand alone (air to liquid). An aftermarket cooler hooked up after the factory would cool better then the stand alone ...

They were probably for the optional engine oil cooler.

My oil cooler lines are leaking, can I just remove the lines and plug the inlet outlet on the housing?

There is an adapter that you can take off ... might be better then plugging.

i found some cooler line assemblies for about $60 for both (new). i'm assuming i would be ok to get an adapter kit and use the soft lines from the kit. it looks like the factory lines are a combo of both hard and soft lines

this is kind of a late post but i just did something similar to this. i had no adapter on my block and i had the holes for an oil cooler on my radiator. i went to a junk yard cost me $50 for the adapter for the block. then went to a local parts store bought a gasket set for it for $10 or $15 then both the oil cooler lines for about $20 each.
