So it seems our "new" Tahoe does not have an auxiliary transmission cooler. What pieces are needed to at the OE unit? I did found this eBay auction, is that all that's needed? Looks like it completely bypasses the in-rad unit, then?

That looks right but I'm coming up with different part numbers when I plug my VIN in over at GM Parts Direct. I've bought a lot of parts from Quirk, give them a call and tell them what you're trying to do to be sure.

Cooler - 20880895
Inlet Pipe - 25999418
Outlet Pipe - 15779543
Retainer - 15049288

Probably just superceded part numbers. Sometimes you can check them over at oecats.com

I think I figured it out? # 25999418 is for a vehicle that does NOT have an external trans cooler. Those 2 lines run between the trans and radiator only.

# 25999419(like I have) is for vehicles that came with a OE external trans cooler. One line runs to the bottom fitting of the radiator and the other line runs to the outlet side(driver side) of the external trans cooler. The third line, #15779543, runs between the top radiator fitting and the inlet side(pass side) of the external trans cooler.

The part number I see for the external cooler lines (rpo #KNP) is 25999420

I think your right, but after studying ea there isn't much difference between 25999419 and 25999420, I'll let you know how it works out for me.
