Hey guys. Over the last few weeks my 2009 Denali has been acting strange. I first noticed that the remote start only worked sometimes. It would just click once, but when I got in the truck, it started with the key. When that started, I also noticed a vibration or electric motor noise coming from the dash. Sounded like a blend door or something like that. It eventually went away after a few minutes. Today, the truck remote started fine. The HVAC system was louder and more active than it has been up to this point. I was driving down the freeway and lost electrical for a moment. Dash lights went out, needles dropped and the Navi screen went off and I lost power. It came right back (3-5 sec) with no CEL light. The HVAC settings were changed. It changes the temp, zone and fan speed. The music (aux cord) picked right back up where it left off When. I got to work and turned the truck off and attempted to restart. I got the dead battery click. Turned the key back, tried again and it started right up. The dash was making all kinds of mechanical movement noises. I have a fairly new, quality battery.

Any ideas what could be happening here. It's got me freaked out to say the least ...

Any input is greatly appreciated.

In several threads there is mention of strange electrical happenings and in several of them the OP reported back, after using the recommendations, that they did indeed find loose dirty corroded ground connections at the firewall, back of engine, top of engine....etc. Also found battery cable same type problems at both ends and just a basic check of all those electrical connections, power and ground, that cause a nightmare for the driver. There will be more detail given after this.

Oh yeah, welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum @DenaliBran.

As Ron stated already, I would start looking at all of your ground locations. These vehicles are very sensitive to loose connections and bad grounds. Might also look under your dash to see if you have any loose harness connections.

Any work been done on the vehicle prior to these symptoms showing up?

Thank you both for the prompt replies. I think I'm gonna order the big 3 kit and inspect all of the grounds you guys mentioned and go from there. I'll report back when I've followed those instructions. Thanks again

I haven't had any work done. I did replace the accelerator pedal and the sensor on the throttle body 6-8 months ago. Also replaced the engine mounts with the H3 ones around that same time. We had to remove the starter to get the passenger one in so I'll start there and work my way through the list the two of you provided.

The starter is a great place to start since you did R&R it. Light up the area so you don't miss anything and go from there.
