NHOU Undercoating

Well winter is coming and I decided to bite the bullet on getting my underside coated by NHOU. Just wanted to ask if anyone has had any experience with this type of undercoating and were you impressed with the work? How long did it last?

Always wondered what they do to prep, and what about working on it after the fact .. isn’t that stuff all oily on everything?

I just had this done for the first time on my trucks a couple weeks ago. they removed some of the peeling factory undercoating, but for the most part just sprayed right over everything. I did remove my spare tire for better access for them. No feedback on how long it holds up as I just had this done.

Thanks for the reply's everyone. I was quoted $320.00. I read that it should be done yearly on their website. I know I don't want it dripping off in my garage or driveway... wife would be pissed!!!! Well I have a tentative schedule for October 3rd, but I may just cancel it. I want something more permanent and something that would handle the rust already under there better than just an oil coating. We will see.

I don’t think it drips, that would be bad for the business…. They have been around a while… could you imagine every car they did dripping on every driveway and garage… ive heard trying to work on it sucks tho..

You're not going to really find a permanent solution besides moving to where they don't use salt and chemicals on the roads. I fluid film my vehicles twice a year before and after winter. There's guys around me that charge around 150-200 for a fluid film application. Although I've never had someone else do it for me I highly doubt it will drip all over your driveway or garage. After one drive any "extra" coating will get "blown" off. If the coating was that slippery to keep dripping and dripping it would be pointless to use because it wouldn't stick and do its job.

If you really wanted to you could have someone wire wheel the rust and spray an actual undercoating, think like rubber like what comes from the factory, but it will trap any rust underneath it if every speck isn't taken care of. And it will still spread. And then in a few years you'll have to do it again. That's just the way it is. Even if you don't drive on gravel roads your underbody still gets crap kicked up that will "eat away" at whatever coating is on it.

Thanks guy's. Just trying to weigh my options. I was on Youtube and was watching how some people were doing it themselves with that Rustoleum anti-rust spray and then spray with a protectant. I will let you know what happens.

Thats basically what I do. One weekend I'll wash the crap out of the under carriage and after it dries spray some rust reformer on any rust I can see. Then the next weekend throw on some crappy clothes and go to town with fluid film. Once it starts the best a guy can do is try his best to stop in from spreading.

A lot of guys don't like it being all oily underneath as far as working on stuff, but I'd much rather get oily working on something then have to deal with rusted nuts and bolts. Especially if any of them break due to rust.

This ^^^^^^^ is the way. Very effective solution that is cost effective. I do a similar program here in WI.

@Aquamania001 As for the dripping all over the driveway, that hasn't been an issue. Fluid film, or woolwax, is thick and sticky. I've rarely had anything drip off, but it does happen sometimes......like the size of a dime or so. If you're worried, park it on your lawn for the first 24 hours.
