i installed new rotors and pads from brake performance about 2 months ago. i had problems with them squealing while using the brake and while driving. i had brought the truck to the shop afew times with nothing to be found rubbing on the rotors.
so i had the mechanic remove the pads clean everything up again re grease exc.. he said there was some funny markings on the pads so he sanded them down a bit. its been about 2 weeks i havent heard any squealing while braking. but under slow acceleration and slight turning i hear a very high pitch squeal coming from the front rotors. only sometimes though. so i dont understand whats going on here. any help or suggestions will be appreciated. thanks!!

I got a feeling he was talking about all the moving contact points that should be cleaned of dirt and rust and use a high temp lube for them to move easy. Noise could be from cheap rotors. There is a reason some rotors are pricier than others. Likely came with new hardware with new pads so no worries there and when it is all back together and you made sure the 2 mating surfaces were very very clean, meaning the rotor surface and pad surface, they should be seated properly on the first test drive. Before cleaning the rotor surface you should have put a unidirectional swirl finish on the surface, also. Quality pads make a difference also. Are they the ceramic pads?

the rotors are dimpled drilled and slotted. the pads are semi metallic.
of course i did not grease the pad it self. i had the mechanic clean everything up remove all rust exc and grease contact points.

I am not a fan of the old style semi metallic pads. They could be noisy right out of the box, even the high quality ones. Like the ceramic design now. Also, not a fan of cross drilled rotors or dimpled or slotted. These are areas that tend to help cause cracks IMO. May not be a problem at all but I guess I am old school except for the ceramic pads. Are the rear brakes working correctly? If not then the fronts overwork and build too much heat and can then be noisy. When front is off the ground do both sides spin freely? If not and one is dragging then again the heat build up.

Pads are defective. Have them warrantied out. Try again. My guess is they will be quiet this time around. Seen it many times on certain brands.

Partstmaster's lines of pads used to cause a lot of comebacks for that. Ditched them and have never had a problem since. Nothing like getting paid to do a job once just to turn around and do it again because your parts were ******.
