Well the story is this.........a month ago my brother in law tells me if i'm interested in his old pioneer D3 double din radio. Of course i didn't want to say no and hurt his feelings, HAHA so i said sure. The only request he had was to help him dump his old kitchen cabinets. He just redid his kitchen so he had a pile of his old kitchen in the yard. Took a few trips to the dump but it was done and i was happy i was getting a nice radio for my truck. He gives me the box that he got back from the radio shop when they took it out of his truck before he traded it in. The radio was wrapped up, wires, XM satellite box, cd's and a few other things. Took it home and started my search on what i needed to get this installed. I got a wire harness kit, a radio install kit, 2003 interior panel and the radio buckets.

I took a day off and started my install..........I installed the radio bucket and panel and made sure that the radio fit nice and even, that alone took a good amount of time. I then started looking over the wire diagram and was just about to start connecting wires when i couldn't find the DAM radio harness. I couldn't believe it but they never gave him the harness back. He called the shop and of course they told him it was in the box. I did find a harness on ebay but i was pissed that i had everything out and ready for the new double din radio but no radio to install. I reached out to a good friend that does radio installs on the side and told him the story. He said he had a new radio in the box that he got on line from china that he was going to install in someones work truck and for some reason the guy changed his mind. Of course im a pioneer, alpine and kenwood type of guy but for the 100 bucks he wanted for it i took it. I have to say im totally impressed on how good it works. The DVD player and GPS work great. Of course will probably swap it out with the pioneer when i order and get the harness or just wait it out until i find a good deal on a new unit. Anyway pictures are below just thought i share it.

Is there a walk through on how to install the 03 bucket? That's my next up grade.

question on d-din instal

How did you get the ashtray and the cig lighter cover to fit like stock. I thought the '03 dash bezel would not allow the cover to fit properly.

They do not open BUT there is a thread that showed someone shaving the lower part where it meets the cig lighter and ashtray with sandpaper or was it a small grinder i forgot and got it to open. I just didn't need to do it yet but will plan to get it down sometime soon.
