Traded in a 2016 Ram 1500 Limited, great truck but we got a lemon. We traded a 08 XL Denali in on the Ram. Missed the three row seating (grand kids) so we came back to a Denali. Got the Denali a few days ago so I’m still learning new features. There is a world of difference from the 08. Looked at an 18 SLT but I wanted the bigger engine, we tow a 6,000 lbs. travel trailer. IMO the price of a new Denali is pretty nuts, especially for a Retiree.
Couple things the Ram had that the Denali doesn’t are auto dimming headlights and fuel mileage. The auto dim feature worked perfectly, better than you could do manually. Also the mileage for a full size ½ ton pickup was incredible. 20-22 city and 28-30 highway with a 3.0L diesel that had plenty of power for towing. But after 12 times and over 70 days in the dealership for warranty work in two years it had to go.
I spent a lot of time on the Ram Forum looking for and receiving valuable advice once the problems with the emissions system started. Hopefully I will have a better experience with this vehicle. My 08 XL Denali was pretty much trouble free for 140,000 miles.
