Had to replace the HVAC control panel a few months ago, other than a broken clip on the dash trim everything went smoothly. Just started having to use the rear defrost a few days ago. I noticed that with this new unit it does not turn off by itself like the old one did. I believe it used to turn off after maybe 5-10 minutes, this one will run until you press the button. Just the new design or is there an issue?

It should turn off within ten minutes or so. Was it a new panel? It looks like it has an internal timer relay. It may be replaceable, the diagram implies that the switch and relay are one component.

Thanks for the info. I actually double-checked and it does in fact turn off. This was a brand new AC Delco unit. The original one was in the truck, lasted 23 years! It just seems to turn off a bit later than the other one, but no big deal as long as it doesn't burn anything out.
