New headlights

So I'm kinda a novice on the whole hid/led lighting thing. All I know is I'm a real big fan of the whitish output that I see on some cars insteAd of the traditional yellow normal headlights. Is this something that can be accomplished with just new bulbs or is this an entire headlight swap, any help would be great

You can get white output with just bulbs, but it's usually not as bright as stock.

You can put in a HID kit and be brighter than stock, white color, but will make several people on this forum upset with you, some people on the road (but not all), and potentially the police (I just got two tickets for mine).

You can do a full retrofit and have projectors put in your headlights, then do HIDs in it. This is the most favorable way to do it, but also the most expensive. You will have people on here happy with you, still piss off some people on the road, and still illegal depending on where you live and if the police care.

I like the bulb idea, seems simple and straightforward, unfortunately where I love cops are notorious for giving bs fix it tickets for anything because small town not much else goes down here. Is this something I can pick up at like an autozone?

No definitely not at autozone. Check out theretrofitsource.com you can get a kit there. It won't look right without the projectors though... you'll be blinding people on the road :/

Ohh... Definitely don't want that. Maybe I'll put this on the backburner until I get the money to do it the right way. I'm just a big fan at how clean the white light looks but I don't want to blind ppl cuz I sure as hell hate getting blinded

The HID lights can be anywhere from 30-40 to a few hundred. Then the projectors are anywhere from a few hundred to like 2-3 thousand lol. I got this company to do mine and for the hid kit and projectors (upgraded bulbs to better ones) cost me $710 shipped. I know Black flame customs charges about $1k for there run of the mill retrofit projectors with the hid kit.

Only reason I got em is because I hit a deer (or actually the deer hit me) and crushed my headlights so I needed new ones haha

Vision Auto Works. Email Cullen at [email protected] and tell him I sent you. I spent $710 for everything (that's with upgraded bulbs too). Head light housing, hid kit (ballast/bulbs), all included. It is an aftermarket replica/clone. OEM housings can't be used because the front of the housing won't/can't get baked off to retrofit the projectors. Only the aftermarket ones will come off. Here's mine with the Iris shrouds:

I used the same guys. Great work just expect about a month or so. They also run 10% or 15% off deals a lot on they Facebook webpage.

I used E46 extended shrouds and the same XB35 bulbs. Definitely recommend the bulb upgrade.

I haven't had a look at the headlight wiring on the Tahoe yet, but there are vendors that make new plug-in headlight wiring harnesses that really helps the light output. Most manufacturers use as small a wire as they can get away with, which frequently results in yellowish lights.

One company popular with the GM B-body crowd (Caprice/Roadmaster/Fleetwood) is Innovative wiring:

They make a harness for the 94-96 B-body that draws power directly from the battery, using relays that are plugged into the old headlight harness. It results in much whiter lights. Perhaps there's someone out there that does this for these vehicles, or maybe Innovative Wiring could be prodded?
