Looking at at a new Yukon. Want everything in the Denali but the big 6 liter engine. Does anyone know if it is possible to get a slt with all the Denali features ( grills, wheels, wood interior trim and console,etc) I just don't want or need that big of an engine ?? Thanks all!!

get the 6.2L with 3.43 rear end and you will love..i do a lot of highway driving and last night on the highway i avg 19.2 mpg. Dont let the engine size fool you, you need the proper weight to power ratio and 6.2/8spd combo is perfect for a vehicle that size.

I drove from DC to Jacksonville and back a couple of months ago on 90% highway driving and averaged 17mpg for the whole trip. When I do a tank on 90% city driving I average 11mpg. Every other time it's somewhere in between depending on the ratio of city to highway driving and how many sports cars I feel like pwning off of traffic lights.

i dont need to pawn any sports cars on the road, thats for my other toy
city driving so far for me using the real math (not EVIC) i got 15.65 and freeway 90% i got 19.2 - 18.2 after the other 10% driving...in other words when i arrived to my destination i was at 18.2...oh yeah AC on too.
I see ... if this is the case you should send your numbers to GM cause I'm pretty sure they'd love to confirm and forward them to the EPA so that they can adjust the Denali's listed mpg rating upwards.

Anyhoot, magic foot aside, to address the questions ...
There are some features the Denali has you can't get on the SLT from the factory like the ventilated seats and maybe one or two more ... the main ones are the 6.2 which you don't want anyway and AWD instead of the SLT's 4WD.
Most of the other stuff like grilles, rims, tail lights, roof rack, interior wood trim, rear bumper, etc, can be swapped afterwards at different cost points.

What's your DIC say for your avg mpg? I have the 6.2L and get 11.1 mpg mixed city/highway driving...

I had the same feeling you did. I bought an SLT and now have everything a Denali would except vented seats, heated steering wheel, denali door sills, and horrible gas mileage.

Okay but I want to buy it this way I don't want to have to add things as I go. I just want a Denali without a 6 L engine. Does anybody know if that is possible? Or is it truly possible to get an SLT with everything like a Denali with the exception of the Denali decal and 6 L engine?

The Denali also has the softer leather seats and the Autoride suspension. I would rather burn a little more gas and be in my Denali than have every option BUT the 6.2L. Everyone is different though. I would say test drive both and the choice should be easy.

You'll want the 6L engine once you've been driving this truck for a while. They are big and heavy so take a lot of power to move it from a stopped position. You think you don't need it now, but wait till you drive it.

You can get the ventilated seats in the SLT. Option KB6 - Heated and Cooled Front Seats ($572)
IMO the 5.3L is too small for a big heavy vehicle like the Yukon or XL and the mpg isn't anything to write home about with either motor.
There are quite a few differences between SLT and Denali besides the powertrain. Chrome rear bumper trim, hitch cover, door handles, grille, sill plates, chrome roof rails, extra sound dampening material, etc. etc. Some can be ordered as options but not all.

I have an 02 escalade and the window sticker says 12-15 on the 6.0 im almost thru the tank and its ave 18mpg....with ALOT of city...
