happened to be looking at my corner lights and noticed the lens was separating damnit. Upon further inspection the butyl I used from Home Depot isn’t like the morimoto retro rubber where it actually sticks and hardens up. So the butyl I used literally did nothing basically I’m surprised they held together this long lol. I pulled the lights back apart without even baking them.

Spent a couple hours clearing off all the old butyl, adding retro rubber, and resealing them. Also hit them with a quick polish and they are good to go luckily.

Went to the wrecking yard with the lady today. There was a 02 Escalade ext truck sitting in the very back. Gauge Cluster was still in it!!! My buddy works there so I called him and asked for a price and mileage.
He said they normally sell them for 175 but he will give me it for 125. Okay score rarely can find them that cheap. And he said the mileage was 194000. Mines at 204000. So pretty close. We got up to the front and he said He would do 100. Hell yes!! I’m stoked at this point.

Got home and pulled my HD cluster out. Swapped over the green leds. Also for anyone who has problems with 00-02 clusters acting up I found out after bass broke my hd one that the female end on the cluster doesn’t have support so where it solders to the circuit board breaks easily. Made sure to fix this one before that can happen. Just put a layer of ca glue underneath it for support and sturdiness.

got it hooked up and it’s at 199000 so only 4000 away from mine. Couldn’t have luck like that again I’m super stoked been wanting one since I bought the Tahoe. View attachment 237860

Funny thing is when I was posting that photo I was thinking, “I should make a comment about how I need to paint that and how 05single has given me crap for it before” hahahahaha

Last night turned into a shit show real quick. Met up with a few buddies to go to a car meet in Tigard(about a hour drive).
Got right past the Woodburn exit, 20 miles from where the meet was, went to pass someone and when I got to 85 all the sudden it felt like I was driving on the rumble strip with all 4 tires, aggressive vibration and shaking. Got to the side of the freeway and couldn’t see anything wrong underneath. Pulled back out on the highway and it started doing it again at about 30mph+. Luckily there was a weigh station turn off right there. so I went limped it to a safe spot and found my front u joint blew apart where the driveline connects to the diff. Of course no tools on me or any of the other cars. My step brother drove to a parts store a few miles away to grab an 11mm so I could get the driveline pulled. Well thanks to my Texas speed y pipe I couldn’t get it out and couldn’t get the y pipe apart. Also did I mention it was pouring down rain this whole time? As I was soaked head to toe and frustrated I finally got ahold of my dad as a last resort to bring the truck and trailer but also had him bring a sawzall to cut the driveline out if I didn’t fit on his trailer. (When I had the 20x12s it was to wide to clear the fenders on his flat bed) and with no tape and not remembering how much it wouldn’t clear before he brought the trailer just Incase it would. Well it is still 2” too wide to fit on his flatbed. So sawzall it is. Got it cut in half and pulled out and finally got home after 4 hours of sitting on the side of the freeway soaking wet. 0E28DA1C-CE27-4C35-86B5-2FAD3A852E1B.jpeg72A064AF-8341-4961-9BA8-0D90A9C3CFD3.jpeg
My buddy recently parted out a Tahoe and gave me the front driveline. Fingers crossed it will work. But if not they are like 40 bucks at the wrecking yard so I really wasn’t worried about having to cut it out.
