navigation screen won't turn on

howdy!

so today, out of nowhere, my factory navigation screen won't turn on at all. if i put a dvd in, then the rear factory entertainment system works, along with the ability to change the audio volume.

if the exterior lights activate, then the two columns of buttons illuminate as they should.

it's a completely black screen too. pressing the power button does nothing to the screen.

is there a fuse somewhere to check? or has my unit bit the dust? anyone else ever experience this?

for the benefit of those that may do a search in the future...

i purchased my truck from carmax a year ago, and bought the maxcare warranty. their warranty covers the factory nav system.

carmax sent the unit for repair, and apparently whatever is broken in the nav unit is not repairable.

so, if this happens to you, hopefully you are either covered under a warranty, or ready to buy a new aftermarket nav unit.
