MZS 1.5” level kit on ‘22 tahoe high country

Just installed a 1.5” leveling spacer (lower strut style) from MZS. This is on a high country with no air suspension. Honestly not sure if these have mrc suspension or not, but i have been told they do. I could not find any sensor arms like on the last denali she had which needed a small spacer to keep everything happy and not throwing codes. There is no spacer with this kit, and no codes have been thrown, soo…..

All turned out well and it leveled it off nicely without looking like its sagging ass.

The kit comes nicely packaged with directions that have color photos.

The spacer is 7/8” thick. I dont think a thicker spacer could be installed, because at full droop the bolt head and nut actually contact the rubber on the axleshaft seal as well as the crimped portion of the metal clamp. When at ride height, there is plenty of clearance.

Oh, and the tires are 305/45/22 toyo at3’s, which fit just fine (no rub) without the leveling kit.

When I was going through my saga of trying to get a level kit put on our yukon the dealer told me they only do top mount kits on these new models for this exact reason. They don't want to be liable if those bolts ever do come in contact with the axle shaft boot and damage it. It's probably unlikely to happen but they are concerned enough to steer away from lower mount kits.

Yea, i can see their thoughts on the lower spacers. Had i known it was gonna be that close i would have tried finding a top mount spacer for 1.5”. However, when i installed basically the same kit on her ‘16 denali i dont remember it ever being that close to the axleshaft so it never dawned on me that this would be an issue.

I will say i think the axleshaft may have slid out of the hub bearing slightly when it was at full droop and contacting the rubber seal, because i have a few different pics (when still at full droop) that the rubber was nowhere near touching the bolt/nut…so i am assuming there may be a little play in there.

Nonetheless, it is definitely very close tolerances when at full droop, which i dont ever expect her to have it there while driving anyway (just on a lift or when being jacked up), so i am not too concerned about it.

I will definitely be keeping a close eye on that seal and metal clamp area, though, to see if it looks like it has ever touched it.

Could the lower mount bolt be flipped ?

Might be slightly tougher to install, but would have more clearance.

So was there any wires attached to the shocks or anything? Unless the internet is wrong, the high country trim has the MRC standard.

On the plus side....it worked for you, and your tire size is close to what i plan. I was going to get some 18" AT4 wheels off the truck (powder coat them black) and put on some 295/65/18 duratracks. Just need a 1.5-2" level to do it. Alternate if a 3" lift is available is a 33x12.5 on the same 18"

I didnt actually take the shocks out so not completely positive, but there is a shit ton of wiring on top of the strut…weather or not any of it goes to the actual shock i do not know.

You might be able to fit either of those tires with no level/lift at all. The 305/45/22’s fit just fine before the level.

Perhaps. But gaining altitude is a must.

That’s what I did in my 2021 Silverado, slid the bolt in from the top. Had to remove spindle from upper ball joint and tire rod to allow enough movement to move CV axle out of the way. Planning to do the same with my 22 Tahoe premier.
