My latest Adventure, update 7/11/21

so not too many updates, got some parts for the saturn, got some put on, and a few more to do (couple parts for the denali also) , got a new fob case for the old key, then got a second new key and had a non fob chipped key made. so now there is no fob to fall apart as a spare that will last.

got all but one of the stickers and residue off the back of the car also,

air filter wasnt too bad, but the cabin filter was more than due, but it was the wrong replacement.

does pretty good at hauling groceries too! not as roomy as the suv's but does fine! lol

still getting used to this part.

got some batteries , and came with a free tool, so i grabbed a buffer as apparently i laid my corded one wrong over the winter and the pad is quite, ummm not flat. but the extra batteries will help with the rest of the blue lineup i have on hand.

also found at a local store and found another astra. (these come to find out, are pretty not common. )

and i also found the best solution for the 8.1 milage, using some 1.8's!

well not been a ton of new stuff going on, but figured i would share what there is.


got some new brakes on the astra, and although the old ones didnt look that bad, it make quite a bit of difference, the new pads bite much better and one of the rear slides was froze up so getting all that working correctly again helped the feel and the parking brake function.

decided to use the buffer also, i used it to put the wax on the car with ( put on with the buffer and by hand to buff back off) you can see the line from being done and not, it pulls the oxidization off. and a couple of the whole car also.

buffed the headlights on the car also and they turned out much better than they had been . ( did it before waxing the car above)

so while i had the stuff going i did the headlights on the denali also, they turned out good enough i am thinking about buying the adapter plates to put some mini H1's in there ( i have clear corners for it already just need to get them on. )

a couple pics of my buddies grand prix that just got painted. the color is called purple rain. possibility of getting the wheels off it for our black sedan as he will be upgrading.

and i half ton i am looking to get as a replacement for the tahoe, from a guy that has a wrecker that i drive for from time to time. is a 00 1500 with 4.10's. was picked up with a broken tcase ( littereally came out going down the highway) i should have all the parts to fix it off my avalanche that has been sitting.

and a 2500 my dad is wanting to grab from the same guy.

alright there is alot of bike in these updates,

started with making mine look a bit better, as i had been on some damp roads and bug guts it was looking kinda funky.

so who knew that borla did motorcycle exhust at one point. although short lived.

got to looking at the tires after its bath, as one does when keeping an good eye on things, and i knew the front was starting to get low, but i found the rear to not only be getting low but quite uneven on the left side. (thank you for all the wonderful crowned roads around here.)

tahoe gettin up there in miles, but still doing great!

then i spotted this other tahoe at the store, and had to look twice.. i give them props for making it look better than nothing.

so for new tires, i am doing what is called double darkside. darkside is considered when you run a car tire on the rear of a motorcycle, and double dark is when you run a car tire on the rear and a rear bike tire on the front. most of this is for better longevity and better traction ( esp the rear) and i put in balance beads instead of weight.

so it begins.

look how deep that tread is.

this is the zip tie method, you zip the beads together and just slip it on the wheel, easy peasy!

the easiest way to do the rear on this is to lay it over put the center stand out and take it off. ( there are other ways, but the hitch and such takes more work, and this really is the easiest and quickest way)

now i did cheat with this one and being the rear wheel is made much like a narrow car wheel, i took it down and had a local guy use his machine and flop them around for me, and it was quicker to lay the bike over, take it off, drive to town have it done, come back and put it on and be back on the ground than it did to do just the front.

so here is some after action.

and this is after almost 200 miles ( i did some riding to get it them run in a little then did a group ride this last sunday. but you can see how far on the edge it runs, and that is it, that was with the suspension up and scraping pegs. ( i have done this before, on my old 89 gl1500 goldwing. )

i had to do a battery on the wifes bike, and figured i should do the air filter while there and i was right!!!!

and a snatchblock that a buddy borrowed from my dad for some local mud run stuff at the fairgrounds. i was bring it back home for him. it is BEEEEEFYYYYYY!!!!

and a couple pics of her bike after a wash, she was going to take it on the group ride, but the signals were not working, so we took it back home and she rode with me.. i checked the fuses, but no dice, so i will have to dive into that later on .

and i cant help it, he is just too damn cute!!

alright so a few little updates, apparently before we did the other maintenance on her bike above, she had a passenger on with her and being the bike is lowered the passenger was heavier than she has had since last time i had to fix wires in the back ( similar to what will be shown below) we went to go on the group ride (the reason it got the work and the wash) and we left the house only to find out she didn't have signals, so we did a quick look and didn't find anything major so we dropped it back off at the house and she just rode with me. we here is what i found when i actually got a chance to look at it later. ( wanted it fixed so it was working, but also have a ride coming up on 9-18-21 for my late nephew and wanted to have it sorted before then.





after i cut the zip ties and pulled it down to see what was going on better

it broke the light/plate mount off one side.

i was able to cut the crappy lights off either side, and use the backer that had been just holding the lights, and drill some holes and use it to mount the plate with now also.. not perfect and not my best work, but it is fixed and secure for now.. i will probably be looking into options for the future however.

also got some pics of a car to list for sale ( is the same guy that is building the old burb i have in another thread.) he got this car largely like this and just has done some little things to it. it is a former road race car from the late 80's with wide body kit and custom suspension and such ( the blower motor in the burb was in this car at one point)

on the more mondane side, found a bad pully on a borrowed mower.

and the denali is showing its 250k of salt life.
