I bought 2018 Tahoe rst with 6.2 and 10 speed transmission need feed back on mpg please suggest . My mpg in city driving are at 9 mpg is it because it new . And it city driving with flow of traffic not stopping for ever.
We have a 2018 Denali with the exact same engine/transmission that is getting 13-16 mpg in city driving and usually 21-25 mpg on the highway. City driving is suburban type driving. Highway is 65-75 mph. We are very happy with the performance of the vehicle and the great mileage. (We had 2014 Denali that averaged low teens in town and 16-17 mpg on the highway. But it has the 6.2 liter engine with the 6 speed trans. )
I would think something is wrong to get the low mileage you are reporting.
PS I am not a light footed driver, just ask my wife

Just did my first fill up yesterday and doing 100% small town / short trips, I'm getting 12.1mpg.

I have a 2017 Escalade with 10k miles and in NYC I average less then 12 mpg. On the highway I am lucky if I get 18 but I have a heavy foot.

I have to suspect it is how you drive. My father has a 2016 w/6.2 and 8 speed and ~11/12 MPG. He always drives very gently but has short city trips (3-4 miles) at 45-50 mph or less (highway trips he pulls ~20 mpg). I had a 2018 6.2/10 spd and averaged ~18 MPG but did 80% highway and pulled low 20s on long trips. So I suspect this is an artifact of your driving conditions more than your vehicle.

Yeah - the downside of very short trips is the engine spends the entire trip getting warmed up. That reduces fuel economy.

I had a 2010 Camaro (cam, headers, etc) and would do ~3 mile trips. I never got much better than 10 mpg doing that. Highway could easily get 22-24 mpg though. So was very dependent on trips.

Most of my errands are like that, short runs with lots of stop and go and it tanks my mileage. Often the average mpgs will drop into the 10s but goodness, it's a 6,300 pound truck with LT tires and an in progress tune which is still improving its efficiency.

Keep driving it Jorge, use good Top Tier quality fuel not from Shell and maybe add a pound or two of air in your tires over what the door sticker says. Even though it's a new truck, check all fluid levels, especially if 4WD.
