Monthly payment is the trap; that’s how simple minded people end up with 96 month loans at 10% interest with a vehicle that sold for 2k over sticker!
The phrase itself about the “monthly payment trap” is correct, this is indeed what unprofitable deals are often based on. But reducing everything to “simplicity of thinking” is also not entirely correct

In fact, the problem is that people are deliberately led to choose through a convenient payment: they extend the term, add a high percentage, add a markup to the price of the car, and in the end the final overpayment is not at all obvious at first glance

And over a long payment agreement, it's wise to ask up front for them so show you language in the loan where you can pay early to reduce overall interest! You might get extra $ down the road and would like to pay less interest by paying things off early. I bring this up because I've heard of cases where there are penalties - but I'm willing to be corrected / don't want to put false info out there :)

I'd be curious if this is "the" forum or is there another one for Tahoe etc.? There was so much misinformation on the ordering process it isn't even funny. We would like to help others and correct misinformation, but it's a losing battle. Based on the activity and responses, either there is "another" secret Tahoe forum, or, people aren't into Tahoes. my .02 ymmv Again, just an example, Pilot is about the same size as Tahoe, 112 vs 123 cu ft for cargo. That's not a quality response, it's wrong factually, but didn't seem like anyone knew any differently and folks just accepted it to be true.

edit p.s. I found a stat that may be along the lines of what I said above. This forum has 1.9 mil posts total. I took a look at a forum for my other car, and it has 1.8 mil on one model/generation alone. So either the enthusiasm factor is different, or, there's a secret Tahoe forum that also has 1.8 mil threads on say 21-24's. Frankly I don't know.

p.p.s. checked another forum for our 3rd car, and 6.7 mil posts on one model / generation alone, kinda like calling the us bank phone number and getting put on hold forever. So it just puts things into perspective imho
Financing with $5k down, great credit: roughly $950-$1,150/month for SLE, a bit higher for SLT, based on ~$60-70k financed at 6% over 72 months. Lease: recent Yukon XL lease deals run around $999-$1,250/month with several thousand due at signing, though 2023 terms would differ somewhat. Get actual dealer quotes for real numbers since trim, term, and fees change things a lot.
