I acquired a 2019 Tahoe and I noticed that a button or insert is missing on the transmission shifter stalk. I think this is supposed to be an insert with a trailer on it. Is this repairable? Can I obtain the button/insert? Is there a GM part number?

Thanks for moving it to Interior. The Tahoe is a PPV so that is why I posted it originally in the PPV part of the forum.

It depends on how/why it is missing. If there were tabs on the arm that got damaged or broken off, then you'll need to replace the arm. If there were tabs on the button that got damaged or broken off, then you 'might' be able to repair it by obtaining an arm at a salvage yard and see if you can remove the button without destroying it.

If I find a salvage arm then how do you replace the button? Does it just pop out or is there a trick to it?

that is just a cover, there is literally no function there, the actual button is on the outer end of the shifter arm, the other +/- button is down farther.
that being said you could could just go to the junkyard and experiment with a small knife or picktool to see if it can just be popped off or peeled off
replacing the whole arm is a option you will just have to remove the trim pieces around the ignition and steering shaft, take out the screw and feed the tow wire around to the bcm connection.
