I did this exact same thing with my front climate control fan last night but now you are telling me there's a rear one too?! I thought I heard another noise coming from back there but I didn't think it was another fan thingy. I will have to take that one out and clean it and oil it. What a pain. I 've never seen such a thing before.

lol...yup one in the back too. That's funny cause I was just out there again after fixing the rear one and noticed the front ones a bit noisy...not half as bad though.

Also, I just finished going through the PO's maintenance records and he was quoted $190 to fix this last month...I think I deserve an import beer after that job!

$190 to fix the little fan thats smaller than a computer case fan?! What a rip. I'm glad I just took mine apart and cleaned it. It seems to be working just fine.

I just purchased an '03 Yukon Denali and sure enuf...noise out of the phone speaker that is not a phone speaker.

After a while I figured it was not a speaker because it sounded like it was more of a rubbing sound than a buzz. I slapped it a couple of times and hurt my hand so I figured I would look online for an answer on how not to destroy it. :insane:

Thanks to all of you who posted this same issue, I am now up to speed on what the problem actually is and I can now try to find a fix. :hands::naughty:

Ok, it sounds like you people really know what's what with this stuff. Maybe someone can help me out here??? I've got an 06 Avalanche that my dog ripped out when he felt I left him in the car too long, I guess. Some of the wire came out and broke, naturally. I can't really blame him, I would not have liked it either. Anyhow, now, I have to replace it. Can anyone tell me where to get one, a good one and give me instructions that an old man can understand??? I would really appreciate any help you can give me. It was a little black thing that clipped onto the upper console.

03 Denali as well. Mines has done this too since I've owned it. Kinda funny though cause that thing drove me nuts at first, now I hardly notice it anymore! Just one of those things you get used to after awhile. haha

I figured I would chime in here because I just fixed this issue 2 days ago.

I bought my 03 last Friday - this humming was driving me freaking crazy.

I was able to get to the fan a little easier because I have a sunroof, so I loosened the visor and the a-pillar to give the headliner more working room. I removed the fan and took the thing apart. I cleaned the fan part with just some soapy water and a q-tip to get into all the little crevices. Sprayed a few drops of wd-40 it, replaced it and guess what? NO HUMMING.

Of course, now I hear it from the one in the back - but it is not near as loud as the one right by my head was. I can live with it for now.

Anyway - there it is

Mine does this early in the morning when it's kinda cold out and I always wondered what it was. I guess I can try to clean it.

the rear... what?

the rear actuator is on the passenger behind the plastic where the a/c unit is

My Noisy Fan Fix

I just pulled the sensor apart, I took the fan blade out, snapped the cover back on, totally silent now. Without the fan blade to move air it is less responsive but the sensor still has a general idea of what the cabin temp is. I did buy a new replacement sensor like many others Tahoe owners and the replacement was still noisy.

I haven't gone that far yet myself. Just took it out, blew it clean with air and sensor kleen I used on my maf, works fine 99% of the time. Since I rarely use the auto cc feature, I like your solution.

Anyone have steps on how to replace the rear aspirator? Already did the front on my 05 yukon now the back is annoying me but I haven't found any directions in how to get to it. I did see the post about cutting 4 slits and pulling it out, I'd rather not try that.

I replaced the front aspirator quite easily but now the rear one is making the same noise. I'll see if I can get that one replaced and take some photos.
