Hi all,

I have a 2018 GMC Yukon Denali - with 68k miles on the 6.2 L86 engine and the 10 speed transmission. Collapsed lifter just bent and snapped a pushrod. Looking for recommendations for shop(s) or technicians around Minnesota who can and have performed the complete DOD AFM delete.

Also question for anyone who might know: Is this push rod for the for the exhaust or the intake lifter for cylinder #4? Is this an AFM or or Non-AFM cylinder?

Thank you!

For your enjoyment, I will post photos of my misfortune. Please let me know if I am heading down the wrong path here - I have seen people with bent pushrods but not many snapped off ones and I am wondering if that makes a difference. I'll do a full write-up soon and post it for others to hopefully learn from my experience.

Pushrod snapped off toward the top - partially visible.

Broken push rod off of the right side of cylinder #4. (2nd cylinder from the front on the passenger side)

2018 Yukon Denali 94k miles, 10sp Transmission, babied to hell $12.5k repair just now with the engine, rear shocks/shock motor. I was told to buy a $50 item to plug into the OBDII port to "DDE Delete?" Any suggestions/take on this? Minnesota (Twin Cities) as well. I barely drive the thing, I take care of it and this happens, they told me it was due to the automatic cylinder thing and they told me the mis-fire was coming from cylinder 4 as well. My share after dickering/coupons/bs was $2500 with bumper to bumper/wrap warranty.

Electronically shutting off the DOD will not stop a DOD lifter failure. I know from experience.

The only sure way to take away the risk is to do a full mechanical DOD delete. New cam, new lifters, and some programming.

I am sorry this took so long for me to get an answer to you. I brought mine to Doug Rippie Motorsports in Waverly, MN. The actual repair cost will depend on if your engine is already damaged or not.

My engine was actually not damaged yet other than the broken pushrod, but since I turned off the engine right after it happened I was lucky. In my case, the DOD delete using the BTR (Brian Tooley Racing) can and dod delete kit cost a total of just over $7k.

I did speak to others and so I know of a few other places that offered to do it. I do not regret having this done and Doug Rippie Motorsports is a great place to have it done except it's a 1 man shop - Todd - and he's very busy so it took a few weeks for him to get to my vehicle. Todd is the most knowledgeable guy on this topic I've ever met and he specializes in GM V8 engines.

I can't reprogram! the Whipple Supercharger tune with their hp tuner dongle comes locked so we cannot modify that tune and we don't have any one that can tune remotely our ECU if we want the DOD parts delete on the software and engine tuned?
what do i do then?
I remember many talking about this incredible engine tuner programmer in here that can do the supercharger, camshaft, DOD delete and so on remotely, can any one remember his name please.

Thanks

I ended up buying one of those devices I plug into the OBDII port, the gas mileage is terrible and the drive has changed, not sure how much longer I'll use.

The last one I did, I got my parts from BTR (Brian Tooley Racing). I bought 90% of what I needed there. But you're going to need some 'odds and ends' that can come from an auto parts store, too.

I've used Texas Speed and AMS Racing in the past too. Pick one, call or email them, and work thru it with them. They're generally eager to help people get what they need.

Do you know who re tunes the whipple supercharged cars from stock instead of using the crappy programming they force us with HP tuners?
Thanks
