What are your guys experiences Michelin Defenders? I bought a brand new set for my 2019 Lt 20" and I am experience quite a bit of road noise humming once I hit 55 mph

Is this the LTX M/S tire? What size? Have you drive at 55 or more on different road surfaces? My KO2s go whisper quiet on freshly paved road for example. Funny you bring them up, when my KO2s are done, I was just thinking of the Defenders for the next go round which was my #2 choice the first time around.

Michelin Defender Ltx M/s 275/55 r20 at 35 psi all around.. They seem to be humming no matter what road surface at 55 mph and up. Ive used Michelin Premiers in the past which drive like a dream, but they wear out by 20,000 miles ;(

Try them at 32 psi, your door sticker, and then see.

My door sticker says 35 Psi, but Ill definitely give 32 a try and see if theres a difference

My apologies, I thought the K2s were set the same as the older GMT900s. While 3 pounds doesn't seem like much, it's basically a 10% difference.

I put a set of Michelin Defender LTX M/S on my 2017 Yukon XL about 1100 miles ago. 265/65/18s. Love 'em. Quiet and great grip. Kept them on my earlier Yukon XL as well. I highly recommend them. I typically get 55K-65K miles per set. Seems odd you are having the issues you are.

I've had my Michelin Defender LTX M/S 305/50x20 tires on my 2007 Yukon XL Denali for about 6 months, and they seem to be quiet to me. I do not have any experience with other tires for comparison, except for the Wranglers that the Michelins replaced, but I am very happy with the Michelins.

I had Michelin’s on our ‘09 Suburban and never had any issues with road noise. Put over 250K between three sets of Dueler H/L’s and never had an issue with road noise with those either. Averaged 85K to 90K a set with the Duelers. Only had the ‘09 Suburban for 9 months so can’t speak to the longevity said if things.

I just put on my 3rd set of Michelin Defenders and they are the go to tire for anyone with a tire issue. No road noise as you describe, great tire and great in the rain. It is one of the top rated tires period. Bridgestone and Goodyear were nightmares till I switched to Michelins defenders. Something is up? I'd get on the phone with their tech line or your point of sale.

I lowered the tires down to 33 PSI and they seem to be riding much better.

I have Michelin Energy Saver A/S' on my 15 Suburban LT (they were on it when I bought it) and will be looking for new tires VERY soon.

I've pretty much determined that I'm going with the Defender LTX's (based on the reviews I've read). This thread kind of confirms it.

Since these tires "should" be quiet, I'd suggest having your alignment checked, or maybe there is a defective tire.

Well I found out what the humming nosie was. It wasnt the tires. I left the bank today and noticed something hanging from underneath the tahoe. As I looked, it ended up being a part # large tag with a zip tie still attached around the ehaust from when they replaced it. They must have forgot to remove it. Humming at higher speeds is all gone lol!!!!!!!!!

I've pretty much determined that I'm going with the Defender LTX's (based on the reviews I've read). This thread kind of confirms it.

These were the tires on mine that I replaced. I think you'll be happy replacing them with the Defender LTX's. Tread is deeper and sidewalls are a bit stiffer which allows me to power around corners more confidently when the need arises.

Purchased our Yukon XL Denali May 2019 with 52K miles and tires have date code of 3717 so they were replaced by first owner. Tires only have 5/32 and not worn even and dealer should of replace them doing the GM certify check but didn't. I'm leaning toward the Michelins(285/45/22) OH.. street use only!

I have had Defender 285/45/22s on my Yukon Xl for about 7 months. I absolutely love them. I do get a slight droning sound on really smooth pavement at 40-45 mph, I think because there is so little other road noise to mask the sound. I had sets of Hankooks and Toyos before these (both were 305/40/22s). Mine has a 2/3 drop and stiffer springs and those other two tire rode like crap. The ride difference with the Defenders is night and day.

Local shop suggested the YOKOHAMA GEOLANDAR H/T G056 over Michelins. anyone have used them?
