Android Auto kept dropping, so the solution was to install a new radio. Everything is working fine as I go through and reprogram things, except I discovered that the microphone activation button does nothing when pressed. This is the one on the steering wheel on the right hand side, above the end call button.

Is this a setting somewhere? I didnt realize how much I use this button until it wasnt available.

See if this helps.. Go into settings - apps and permissions- show all apps - google assistant and make sure it's enabled. If not, then this disables the Speak to feature.

Apparently after the latest firmware update, you have to hold down the button for 2 secs instead of like before where you could just select it.

Hi...just curious what fixed your issue with the push to talk button...I had the same exact thing happen. Android Auto kept dropping connection...dealer replaced radio and now the push to talk button isn't working for the trucks Google assistant. If I hold it, it used Android Auto assistant from the phone. The Google assistant button on the home screen works and does things like change temperature of the cab, but when you long press the button on the steering wheel, since it uses the phones assistant, it does not. It used to work before. Did you ever get your fixed?

That is wrong...long press is for Android Auto, or apple carplay to follow your commands. Not the radio {Google assistant from the truck} (truck is Google integrated)

So... I went back to the dealership. They fixed it and told me how they did it. The tech called gm technical support and they had the tech factory reset the radio. In settings, they reset all the personal data, the phones, all personal data. Once they did that, the button worked again for press to talk Google assistant
