Just wanted to share my build for the Tahoe
Isn’t completely finished yet and not to many pics yet either until I’m done
So far I have a kenwood double din ddx3

I threw some Memphis audio m6 coaxial a in the rear door
Memphis tweeters in the dash

Just ordered some down for sound 6.5s I you don’t know about these speakers check em out there stupid loud crystal clear holds a whopping 200watts rms per speaker
My buddy put two in the front doors with 2 tweeters in the back and it can be heard a quarter mile up the road easily

mids amp will be the factory Bose for now but will be replaced with a down for sound 400w with all new wires going to all the doors

for the bass I have a Memphis mojo 15” 2200w rms 4400w max
Pushed by a 1000w old school Memphis prx (10+yrs old)
Debating on upgrading the amp to a down for sound jp23 2300watt so I can see just how loud I can get the sub to go.

big 3 upgrade this week and looking into a 270amp alternator to upgrade too
Then whenever the battery goes I’ll upgrade it to a xs power one more then likely
All work has been done myself

Just bypass the factory amp. No need to run new wires through the doors. The existing wire will be fine for around 200w

Yeah you should still be fine on factory wiring. I’m pushing close to 500w per door on the factory wiring. I have went past what is technically recommended but will redo my wiring once I go bigger with the doors. I have 2 prv 8s in each front door and 6.5s in the rears. Working on trying to get my sub box built but it’s a slow moving process for a bigish build

Finally burnt my old Memphis amp up just got my down for sound equipment in the mail and should have it in the Tahoe by July 4th these speakers and amp are incredible for the price and the quality is top notch you can literally hear the two door speakers from a block away easy without a amplifier just whatever the Kenwood double din puts out!

JP’s new D4S amp look like monsters. Great build quality, exceed rated, and JP couldn’t be a better advocate for the car audio world. I’m an old school SQ competitor as well as a basshead so I went with hybrid audio L8SE’s, L3SE, L1proR2 tweets, all running on Mosconi amplification and DSP. I run 2 different sub stages depending on the time of year(we travel for sports) so a single 13W7 sealed rides during volleyball season the offseason I run 2 FI Q 15’s in an aeroported enclosure. Here’s where the wheels fall off for the haters, the subs are powered by dual Skar RP2000’s. At least until I can find something in the 3-3500watt range that fit under the rear captains chairs recessed in the beauty panel. Not willing to go Brazilian. I’ve had no problems with the Skar gear probably because of the dedicated 300amp Mechman and dual DH6 yellow tops.

Can I keep my speakers but just upgrade subwoofer in the console??
Yea I thought to do the same thing so when I had the baby I could cut the 15 off and just play a single 6.5 or 8” under the console but my audio guy said I wouldn’t be satisfied with it at all for what it would cost to do it right I’m use to atleast enough bass to tickle your ear drums and nose lol it’s nice to have a bass knob now for when I got the wife and kid in there

Yes you can. I believe its a 6.5" so there is not much upgrading you can do.
There are a number of quality 6.5" subs that require small enclosures also capable of handling 500-1000+ watts. We're lucky to have an OEM spot for a sub in the front/center of our vehicles. In the SQ competition world up front bass is a huge deal. It helps to create an accurate sound stage without the bass coming from behind you. I see guys use half of the passenger footwell or rebuild the underside of the dash to achieve these results.
Good quality 6.5" subs in 2022 are not what they used to be. Ground Zero GZHW 16SPL I've not run these 6.5"ers but a very good friend is running 4 of the 8" version. The 6.5" claims 30mm of Xmax?? That's more travel than 90% of the subs on the market. His 4 - 8's on 4K watts almost keep up with my 15's. However there is still no replacement for displacement. Oh yea, taking out the entire center console is a PITA.
