Memory seats function 2016 Suburban

So I noticed something different in my car as opposed to my buddy's Suburban. If I memorize mirrors and seat position to preset 1 let's say, in order to use those settings when I get in the car I have to press the 1 button and keep pressed untill the seat and the mirrors come to the positions I memorized. In my buddy's car he only has to push and release the button for that to happen. Can anybody chime in regarding this? How does it works in your car?

maybe the button is bad, you should only have to push the button quickly, generally holding the button down is only to to save a setting, do the easy out and button 2 work normally?

In my 2019 Denali I have to press and hold the button as well. Maybe GM changed the system along the way?

It might be related to the fact that the dealer programed my key as a third key because supposedly one key was lost. I only have key 2 and 3 now. It is not a push button start car.

I have push button start and do not have both original keys. They couldn’t find the second so they made another.

Could it be key related? I know the car has automated memory preset recall when you start the car with the right key ( memory presets are associated with the key). Anybody with this issue can confirm if they have both original keys?

so in the dealers great wisdom they made the key a 3rd key instead of erasing the original key memory?, I would ask them to reprogram it for 1 key

I bought the car brand new and I did not know back then about keys being associated with memory features, I just wanted 2 keys. I will try to do it myself, I was able to when I lost one of the keyfobs from my XTS.

If equipped, memory seats allow two drivers to store and recall their unique seat positions for driving the vehicle, and a shared exit position for getting out of the vehicle. Other feature positions may also be set, such as power mirrors, power steering wheel, and adjustable pedals, if equipped. Memory positions are linked to RKE transmitter 1 or 2 for automatic memory recalls.

Before storing, adjust all available memory feature positions. Turn the ignition on and then press and release SET; a beep will sound. Then immediately press and hold 1, 2, or B (Exit) on the driver door until two beeps sound. To manually recall these positions, press and hold 1, 2, or B until the saved position is reached.

So pressing and holding is required.

ya but these new trucks are different, you may be able to erase the old seat memories but not the keys pretty sure the dealer would have to do it, you could try to get another new unprogrammed key made and do the 30 minute relearn, you have to have 2 working keys to do a quick relearn.

Same thing, the only difference from my buddy's car is that his is a 2015

I know, that's what I did with my Cadillac , The 30 minutes re learn . A month later I found the lost fob in a drawer

Oh. The key association is nice but I’m the only one who drives my truck so the memory seat thing is not a priority for me. I won’t let my wife near it. She says it’s to big to drive anyway. Win for me
