Honestly you should swap engines to a 5.3 or 6.0. 5.3 are a dime a dozen and you can probably find a good one for not a lot more than just a cam for the 4.8. Once the 5.3 is in take it to a shop and have the ECM flashed for that 5.3. Then the sky's the limit on performance upgrades for the 5.3L. Not real sure what your budget is but if it was mine the first thing I would do is swap to a 5.3L

I've seen some pretty good built 4.8s. Can buy some bolt ons, depending how much more power you want would end up costing the same as a 5.3 swap. But with bolts on can spend over time instead of all at once.

Yeah agreed, but with the 5.3l I've seen people that are putting down 600hp and turning 6,800 rpm's all day long with very little modifications considering and it's their daily driver. The stock lower end of the 5.3L was engineered very well (props to GM for that). In an article of Hotrod Magazine they took a stock 5.3L and all they did was install a pretty hefty cam and it gain 85 horsepower. That is crazy to get that much HP from just a cam. That's what motivated me to swap out my cam although I didn't install that radical of a cam.

Also you should be able to pick up a used but still good 5.3L for around $500.

Yea after getting a 5.3 the power gains are far more better with more options, I didn't realize a 5.3 is that cheap, they're not where I'm at.
