Magnaflow help

I have a '11 Tahoe and want to get rid of the ugly resonator and make it sound a little more mean. I have read tons of post, but not sure which Magnaflow muffler to go with. Can anyone help on this one? Thanks

thats the resonator at the bumper you see. You can cut that out and put a tip on the end. Cutting that off will slightly change the sound. Muffler is mid section of the body and its a 2 and 7/8 inch i believe.

I know what and where the resonator is. I just want suggestions on which Magnaflow muffler to go with and what size pipe does it need to fit. Suggestions?????

I have the same question for a '12 Avalanche ... is the 12589 the largest/quietest fit?

When i went to the place to get mine installed they ran out of that part number. I went with a 11249 which is slightly larger inlet and outlet at 3 inches but still was able to have it welded on.

I like mine no issues. Quiet while normal driving and can hear a little grumble when on the throttle

Norcal- Did you just dump your exhaust after the axle or did you add tips?

dumped it and there is no smell at all in the truck

Mine is dumped also for clearance offroading and no issues.

I have a similar question. I have a 2011 and got the 12589, but the guy at the muffler shop said it was 3" in/out while my pipes were 2.5" so it wouldnt work. Is this true, or did the guy not know what he was talking about?

It is true. Your pipes are 2.75.

However, you need a more competent shop, it can be made to fit.

They need to make reducers.

no use in spending money on the cat back on these trucks as the video on my escalade shows. Magnaflow muffler and cut off resonator and your done

Do you have any drone sound on the highway with the resonator delete and the magnaflow muffler?

i have none and im running the 5x11x28 and no resonator and turned down under the truck and I have a 6.2 not 5.3. You hear my exhaust for sure on the outside but on inside no drone at all.
