Now for the questions.
1. Can you tell me the sectioned width of the 305's mounted on the stock 20's? My stock 275's are tight in the back due to being lowered. I had to trim out the front of the wheel well plastic as they would rub on corners when I had a few people with me.
2. Did the shop give you any flack about the 305's being to big for the stock rims?
3. How much weight did it take to get them to balance?
Looks killer!
Yes the Yokohamas even read a little smaller if you compare specs side by side on Tirerack.com.
1) I tape measured the section width the best I could and it looks like 12". The spec says 12.4". It does seem to bulge slightly from a rim that probably should be 1" wider.
2)I mounted them myself, but a couple guys commented how big they were.
3)They balanced really nicely. A couple took less than 1 ounce per side. One needed 3 ounces. I used a Hunter Roadforce balancer and one was 8lbs, 2 were 11lbs and one was 14lbs, which is awesome for a tire this size.
My concern now is the new Pedders 2/3" kit in my garage. It rubs a little on lock, which is hardly ever, but I hit a dip in the road and heard something rub while moving quickly. I can accept this little bit, but if I lower it, it may be real bad.
I almost regret it because lowering was more important to me than bigger tires. I really though they would just be a "tad" bigger.
Maybe I'll just put a rear sway bar on to improve handling?
