I'm just curious here...

Does anyone know why the redline on my '95 350 CID Tahoe starts at 4000? The tach doesn't even read above 5000.

I've been buying Chevrolets, most of them with tachs, since 1971 and I've never seen redlines that low.

I think in 1995 the HP peaks at 4000 rpm so maybe they just figured that was a good place to mark it. My 97 has a 6000 tach but no redline at all.

95 was the last year before the roller cams. They just weren't designed to spin that high.

Had a 95 for 12 years always liked the nice hard shifts from 2nd to 3rd and even tested the speed limiter a few times.
