low hanging independent rear suspension any problems

It’s not unusual to get a few feet of snow around here…I would be concerned of the Yukons low suspension getting stuck.

Hopeing GM reengineers that low suspension when they launch the next version, if not I will buy something else. I mean job 1 when making an SUV should be high group clearance.

The folks in the "Show us your lowered SUV" thread are grabbing pitchforks and lighting torches.

If you look at the previous gen vs this gen the difference in ride height is negligible. Look at the pumpkin height on a solid rear axle vs the control arms height on the irs and youll see its pretty close if not the same. Only difference is when you lift the solid axle the pumpkin height raises vs the irs control arms staying lower. Removing the solid axle allows for a lower floor height hence increasing cargo room. My observations anyway…

Lifting does not raise the differential on a solid axle at all…but bigger tires do!

We like to camp in remote places and use our 2021 Yukon Denali (just stock/factory) to explore roads like this.

Sometimes they have wash-outs, puddles several inches deep, and rocks sticking up, and we've scraped the rear independent suspension once or twice on rocks. Also scratches down the side due to tree branches. But 8" of clearance is much more than a 'street car' and so far, the rig has held. Suspension can really toss you around sometimes unless one goes slow!

Have been considering a 1" or 2" lift but haven't done it yet / haven't suffered any under-carriage damage.

I do have a front hitch and carry a hitch mountable winch that I can use front or rear. Also a shovel, some mud boards, starlink, and avoid muddy roads (no need to temp extreme wet conditions) but haven't had any trouble so far / needed to use any of these backups.

Love the rig!

Apologies for going off topic. What front hitch do you have? I haven't found one for the 2025 Diesels.

I went with the idea that a 2021 Sierra 1500 is same frame as 2021 Yukon Denali and bought a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 front hitch from etrailer.com. Mine is 6.2L gas but not sure the engine type (gas or diesel) matters as a frame is a frame as long as there's nothing in the way where it goes.

Had to push the auto-shop for install it as they were doing a lot of hand-wringing, but it was not a big deal in the end. Someone else posted a thread that they had success as well.

While the front section of the two frames could certainly be nearly identical, the backs section is completely different, so definitely completely different frames.
